elderberries, wild cherry bark, cinnamon, ginger, astragalus,

echinacea root, plantain leaf, elecampane, and hibiscus for a

Connie, oooh, that does sound good! Just curious how you take it?

Is this something you take as a part of your daily regimen to stave

off illness or do you take it as you feel you are getting something?

And at what dosage?

I have become so intrigued by this berry that I just ordered two

elderberry bushes (Sambucus Canadenis, varieties York & Nova). I

imagine, however, it will be a couple of years before I have enough

yield to make my own syrups, extracts, teas and baked goods. (What a

wonderful sounding pancake syrup or fruitbread!) I also understand I

will be in competition with the birds as they love them as much as we

do! I guess I'll have to net my plants (anyone have other

suggestions?)

total and 2 quarts of water and simmer down to about a quart to a

quart and a half and add either organic sugar or honey (1 cup per

quart of infusion) and a little cider vinegar if desired and store in

the fridge!

Thanks for the recipe... how long will the syrup keep?

" how do you take it? "

Well, we take it usually when we feel something coming on; about 2-4 tsp

several times per day (kids 1/2 -1 tsp. several times per day). It is good to

take as a preventive also by the spoonful daily.

I recommend storing in the fridge and it shall last for several months this

way. Funny you mentioned using it as a pancake syrup! My friend bought some

from me and said her hubby wanted to pour it over his pancakes!

Thanks Connie. I can't wait until I get the bushes growing. It won't

be for a couple of years, but I'll definitely let you know how any food

recipes turn out. And I'm anxious to try making my own

extracts/teas/syrups too. I've told several friends about it... I have

orders already and I haven't even received the plants yet!! LOL
