Guest guest
my best information would be a Castor Oil pack - it is what I used? a number of times when I waas nursing & had problems - use a piece of flannel with good quality castor oil form a health food store if possible - lay it on the problem area - cover with a piece of plastic ( i generally use a bag from the grocery store produce section) & put? a heat pack or heating pad on top - 20 - 30 min? every couple of hours Also go in the shower & massage the breast under the warm water 1 -2 -3 times aday for just a few minutes if you can Lesley aearce2005 <lisamerrill2007 Fri, 11 Apr 2008 12:12 pm Clogged Milk Duct I think I have a clogged milk duct...I put geranium, lemon, and lavendar on it this morning, but I dont' know what else to do...any suggestions? Guest guest
Hi, I thought I had a blocked milk duct and it ended up being mastitis, so I would not muck around if it gets painful, I would see a doctor. I have just looked at this website and it gives very good information. http://huggiesnz.co.nz/BeingAParent/FeedingYourBaby/BreastAndBottle/Ma stitis.asphttp://huggiesnz.co.nz/BeingAParent/FeedingYourBaby/BreastAn dBottle/Mastitis.asp Kind regards Jeanine > > aearce2005 <lisamerrill2007 > > Fri, 11 Apr 2008 12:12 pm > Clogged Milk Duct I think I have a clogged milk duct...I put geranium, lemon, and > lavendar on it this morning, but I dont' know what else to do...any > suggestions? Guest guest
don't laugh. A steamed cabbage leaf is what my pediatrician told me to use when my son was a baby and that was 18 years ago!! It really worked. If you don't have any cabbage, a warm compress will work also. I put a damp washcloth in the microwave for 30 seconds...you do need to let it cool a bit and then apply to the affected area. Also my doctor told me even though it hurt to keep nursing. I'm not a doctor but I did successfully nurse all seven of my babies. I hope this helps. Guest guest
I would be careful with the cabbage leaves because I have heard that they can decrease the flow/supply of milk altogether. Ususally they are used to help breasts go down after birth if the mother is not nursing. , Marge Clark <marge wrote: > > At 02:20 PM 4/13/2008, you wrote: > >I think I have a clogged milk duct...I put geranium, lemon, and > >lavendar on it this morning, but I dont' know what else to do...any > >suggestions? > > you are going to laugh...but do it anyway... steam a cabbage leaf til it's > just wilted... and use as a compress (inside your nursing bra) ages old > treatment for mastitis, clogged milk ducts, etc. > > > > Over 12 years online supplying Aromatherapy and Healthcare Professionals > Website: http://www.naturesgift.com > Blog: http://naturesgiftaromatherapy.blogspot.com/ >
Guest guest
When I used the cabbage leaves it didn't have any effect on my milk production but if you are concerned you could always use a warm compress. Guest guest
Try diluted lemongrass essential oil massaged into the breast and gently comb (a wide wooden comb is good) the breast towards the nipple. I hope this helps.
