Morning all,

to an extent nature and I have come to an agreement. You don't interfere with

my life and I'll leave yours alone. That usually works.

However...

Cockroaches are animals I don't want so I use an empty/finished toilet roll

block one end with duct tape (having already mixed up a blend of borax and icing

sugar) I pour about a teaspoon into the roll and then only cover half the open

end with duct tape - I do need the beasties to get in - the put it in a

moderately accessible place where cockroachs and mice are like to go. They eat

it and go away to die. I believe this works on other beasties.

I have an arrangement with a large black house-spider (can't see if it has a

white tip). She stays in a corner of the kitchen window and tries to eat

anything that gets to her web and I don't use fly-spray. She's sort of keeping

her end up of the bargain. She is not helped by me loosing some cherry tomatoes

in the kitchen and attracting fruit fly. I never blame others for my own

stupidity.

I must get some Tansy and grow that by the front door!

Ah yes, this is for the Australians. I have resident Brushtail possums. I

house 6 in the roof and our understanding is (mostly) don't wake me up at night

or in the morning (I have a mother over my bedroom ceiling). Their job is to

keep the roof rat free. Very successful they are. (ah, if sone dies in the wall

cavity burning lemon scented tea-tree gets rid of the smell wonderfully. I

can't use the oil without that thought in my head). If I've forgotten to take

the vegetable matter down to the compost bin they assist me to keep flies down

by eating what they can.

My cat is no use at all as she won't eat anything that doesn't come out of a

can, bag or what I cook. She absolutely hates anything with fur or feather.

Very useful for a wildlife carer!

I can't guartantee the borax and icing sugar definitely works for mice, but I've

been told it does. Therefore when I use the mixture I would not use the dead

mice for any of the meat-eating birds I look after.
