Guest guest
Hello ??? aearce2005 " <lisamerrill2007 <lisamerrill2007 wrote: > For not being a personal slam, it sure sounded like one...but then > again, that's just my opinion. I don't know who you are but you are not Carmen .. that is who I wrote to. I reckon its her call (and now Penny's) to decide if my post was a slam. But as we see in politics .. and news groups .. when one makes a post they are inviting comment and political correctness is a barrier to truth when posting on these groups. Carmen made a post and it then became subject to reply. As for your opinion .. there will always be someone who finds insult in any post if they wish to find it. Long ago there was a curmudgeon who posted in protest to my signature block. She said she was damned tired of me telling folks to " Keep Smiling " .. gave all kinds of reasons why it bothered her. ;-) Opinions are based on expectations and experience and I reckon your expectations are as different from mine as is our levels of experience. I think your opinion might have been different if you had been on the list a long time and knew me and what I have posted for the last 8 + years. I have 3,905 posts in the archive .. obviously all are not informative but many of them are. I think you have not been on the group long because the posts on record for you are two in April 2008 and one in March 2008. It is not my desire to stroke folks .. even good customers .. or potential new customers. I probably have many loyal customers who don't like me but I reckon they trust me .. that's about all we can ask. If it ever got to a point where I felt a need to give preferential treatment in replies to established customers then I need to consider getting out of the business FAST! On this group are many new folks who have written me and asked for a " magic bullet " for this or that problem .. and they always get the truth as I know it .. not the regurgitation's of some AT " novel " . Many of them never write back because I did not tell them what they wanted to hear but they found someone else who would. When I see what I consider to be incorrect information my choices are to ignore it .. or .. comment in hopes that it can help some of the folks who really want to know the truth. I don't see myself as being a " Know It All " or a Ralph Nader II, but I do know a thing or three and I know that I (and everyone else) can add very little to the group if we just sit back and nod our heads like little dogs with lighted eyes in the rear window of a car. But .. for me, not becoming too involved is becoming easier and easier as time passes .. I have not quit yet because there are many folks out there who don't want me to quit. But I will quit in time .. and that time is not all that far down the road. I turn 66 in July and I am not bored with life .. got too many things I want and need to do besides messing with news groups and EO. My organic garden is way too large .. around 4/10ths of an acre now .. and my fruit trees and flower and herb gardens need more tending .. plus there are just too many danged fish needing to be caught here in the Kentucky Lake area. But the most important things is that I have a handsome young son who thinks his Pappy is as special as I know he is .. and I need to spend a lot more time with him. We all need to live life like we were dying cause that is what is really happening. ;-) So .. on opinions .. maybe you should dwell a bit on what you were thinking when you read the post. > I can't say I know much about how to determine the quality of essential > oils...I wish I did. The only thing I have to comment on is the fact > that I know someone who used to work at Young Living and quit because > he had a guilty conscious...he, like several other people I've heard > of, has personally seen them add carrier oils to their essential oils. > Take it as you'd like, but I would never buy from them. I agree that YL is not the most honest outfit around .. in fact, they are one of the only two buyers I have refused to sell oils to in all my years in the business. Back when I was exporting bulk direct from Turkey they attempted to make a large purchase of Origanum from me .. said they kept their sources secret and all that good humma humma. Their intent was obvious to me .. they wished to compromise me and shut me up because I had been (always have) telling it like it was regarding YL and I once had the honor of being listed as one of 10 folks on their list of enemies. That list was sent to their Butterfly group or whatever they called it .. folks YL dealers should avoid. ;-) I told them I would not sell to them. The other person I refused to sell to also wished to compromise me .. it was the phony Nicole who used to haunt the lists and claim medical credentials that were totally false. Many will remember that knuckle head and all the fantasy creatures she created who used to come to her defense. ;-) But .. I can perhaps assist you on your journey of learning how to determine what is a quality oil. The archive of this list has 52,348 messages stashed .. of those 3,905 are mine. Just pick a subject and a writer's name and at the bottom of the messages page you will find " Advanced " .. as in advanced search. You will find a lot of good information in there. Try Martin Watt .. Chris Ziegler .. Marge Clark .. Marcia Elston .. Butch Owen .. and dozens and dozens of other names. If you use a name only you will find a long listing of every post they have made since the archive was compiled. For the record .. you will find far fewer posts by the above folks during the last year or few months .. I'm thinking its because they too are tired ... as I am I. I find that my sales do not decrease or increased based on the number of posts I make to news groups and I can GUARANTEE that there is far more important things going on in my life now than dealing with news groups. Was a time that was not the case but since May 2007 it has been the case. Folks who have been around this business a while know who their regulars are and they know that their sales to new folks is built on word of mouth .. advertising from satisfied customers. They also can easily identify the level of knowledge of their customers based on the questions they ask. Finally, long ago they learned that as far as new customers goes ... this is a most fickle industry .. one " aw crap " can wipe out ten " attaboys " .. thus, they don't depend on the new, small, retail buyer who is seeking the least costly product and has no knowledge of the importance of Origins and such to pay their electric bill. Also .. I recommend you consider taking Martin Watt's AT Course .. it will assist you a lot. And folks might want to edumocate themselves by reading a few of the articles on his site .. at this link .. http://www.aromamedical.com/articlesarchive.html ... just don't believe all he says about conservation issues .. he's a little overboard on some of them. ;-) A few posts you might want to click on now are below .. those with an asterisk beside them are pertinent to the issue of Grading of Essential Oils ... i.e., calling them Therapeutic or Medicinal Grade. Storage / Protection / Refrigeration of Essential Oils http://health./message/26603 18 November 2003 Effective Levels Of Essential Oils http://health./message/46672 20 March 2007 Absorption of EO - Skin Patches http://health./message/46684 21 March 2007 Absorption of EO - Skin Patches - II http://health./message/46685 21 March 2007 * Essential Oil Grades http://health./message/46714 23 March 2007 * Distillation Methods ** And Therapeutic Values http://health./message/46715 23 March 2007 * Distillation Methods ** And Therapeutic Values - II http://health./message/46716 23 March 2007 * Distillation Methods ** And Therapeutic Values - III http://health./message/46717 23 March 2007 Mixing Oils - Safety http://health./message/46719 23 March 2007 Lavender 40/42 http://health./message/46904 03 April 2007 Melissa Essential Oil Cost - and - Caveat Emptor http://health./message/47261 15 April 2007 Safety of New Essential Oils ** Was: Lemon Tea Tree and Lemon Myrtle http://health./message/47421 20 April 2007 These are but a few but I don't have time to seek out more right now. Like I said above .. if you have a particular question you will probably find the answers in the archive. I can not imagine a single question that could be asked in this business that has not been dealt with many times before on this group. Just type in the most logical subject. Long ago we tried to get folks to use subject lines that actually identified the post because finding information when the subject is like, " I Have a Question " and such is more difficult than finding an honest politician. Y'all keep smiling. :-) . Unless you feel like doing otherwise. ;-) Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com <http://www.av-at.com/>
