Hi Butch,

Appreciated your response to my response. I always say, to make

people (and websites) better - constructive criticism is always

welcome. You just have to know how to do it.

Now to comment on a few comments you made too!

<<<Major point of disagreement here .. I will also ask you what

criteria you use to determine what is and is not " Therapeutic " and

how you have determined that you have " Medicinal Grade " oils? I ask

this because .. (1) There are no such classifications .. and (2) If

there were we would be playing with fire by advertising same unless

we are a medical doctor.>>>>

Oh yes - terminology. It can be a good thing and a bad thing. To

correct it will be hard.

Therapeutic as you know technically means to cause a beneficial

response to a substance or manipulation. Aromas', massage, physical,

all are therapies. We hope that the use of each will be a benefit to

us.

So when we say Therapeutic - or Medicinal - we are probably stating

it the wrong way about the oils quality, but we do know that they

will produce a response no matter what quality – but please read on.

There are many folks have no Idea what a high quality oil used to

elicit a specific response might be. We want natural, uncut,

undiluted, no adulteration in any way, shape or form. The best of the

best.

We look for oils that contain certain levels of constituents that

will help us when suggesting oils for certain situations - including

the various chemotypes (CT). Trying to explain the oils we want to

use are the purest available may make folks too confused. Many do not

know or understand.

Yes only by analysis can you know if you are getting the purest oils.

And as Martin explained in his course there are more tests that can

be performed on essential oils besides just the Gas Chromatography

and Mass spectrometry. There are NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

spectroscopy, Infra-Red spectroscopy, Ultra Violet-Visible

spectroscopy, Optical Rotation, Refractive Index, and Specific

Gravity just to name a few. There are still more. Point being that

when you aren't sure if the oil is pure – perform more tests to be

absolutely sure. (Oh and our suppliers do not make claims as to the

quality level they are – just that they are the purest with no

contamination or adulterations. Personally, we like what we see,

smell and the responses we have seen when used.)

Anyway, We try to explain in layman's terms that essential oils come

in various qualities. The very simple method of helping them to

understand is by us using terms that many more can relate too.

" Food quality " - where a lot of adulteration occurs, as they try to

make the EO's smell and taste just the way they need them to for the

food and flavoring industry. (Can they be used for aromatherapy -

sure, but will they give us the therapeutic response we are looking

for? Maybe maybe not, most likely not.)

" Perfume quality " - again a lot of adulteration and more synthetics

are introduced. Smell really great and can give consistent results

when you want to duplicate the exact same scent - time and time

again. (Now don't get me wrong – there are a lot of natural perfumers

out there that use only the best of the best too to make some pretty

awesome perfumes.) Can any perfume be used for aromatherapy? Sure but

again will it bring about the response you are looking for and if it

is not all natural - do you really want those synthetics applied to

your skin or under your nose? I don't)

" Therapeutic quality " - the purist form of essential oil, the highest

quality. Not cut, not added to, not adulterated. The best of the

best. If you were to use it as medicine - isn't this the form you

would want to use??

So yes, we use these terms, but only to try to explain in simple

terms for simple folks.

So, yes, point taken, we will have to revise that on our site.

Definitely remove the word " Medicinal " (which only appears on our

site about 5 times – soon to be less).

And by the way, Martin Watt commended our site – as we make no

medicinal claims on any of our oils or products. He liked that about

our site compared to many. But he never mentioned the use of

Therapeutic or Medicinal quality on our site as been offensive. Maybe

he had just over looked it. He didn't like it that we sold Rosewood,

but our source is a renewable source (which he disagrees on but then

again, no one knows unless they go visit the distiller).

In any case, we will correct the errors of our ways – in time. I will

have to figure the correct wording to use so as to not confuse folks

that haven't a clue as to what a High quality oil used for

therapeutic aromatherapy should really be.

Well, it's been a long day and I have some more work to do.

To all, and yours

Yours in Aromatherapy,

Penny
