Guest guest
I have been lurking because I am trying to learn from the group and don't have much to offer yet.I would like to ask if there are any oils that truly help with aging skin.I've read about a few but does anyone have experience with oils for firming/toning the skin or removing wrinkles? A lot of skin care products make outrageous claims as to what their products can do ,which they don't.If there are essential oils that work, why are they not being promoted more in the natural skin care industry? Thanks Chantal
Guest guest
Chantal, regardless of what people think, genetics does play so very much into how one's skin ages -- plus avoiding over exposure to the sun, not smoking, and drinking alcohol in moderation. I'm 59 (silent shreek!) and I use olive oil on my face every evening and then wash it off with french milled soap. If I have bumps on my skin I'll wash it off with sulphur soap. I don't sunbathe. I do get out in mornings and early evenings and garden, without sunscreen (I'm one who strongly believes in getting some vitamin D from the sun) -- I wear Almay makeup, which has sunscreen in it, and Neutrogena oiless moisturizer. I had to go to a dermatologist for something unrelated to my face -- he wanted to know if I used retinol or anything else like that because the face is in pretty good shape. As you can see, I don't think I do anything too special. Perhaps a bit of lavendar or calendula oil, if tolerated, in with olive oil for cleansing would be beneficial. Hi Dede: Cleaning with *just* olive oil is very popular. The oils so closely matches the sebum on our skin that it dissolves excess oil and gunk. Then, you just wipe it off with warm water. You can read more about it here: http://beauty-treatments.suite101.com/article.cfm/the_oil_cleansing_method Google also has lots on the " olive cleansing method " A tiny bit of EO can be added, of course, if desired. I mist afterwards with some of Chris' fabulous rose or neroli hydrosol, and my skin is practically wrinkle-free, soft and in great shape at 57. Of course, I use sunscreen every day, but I really hate the feel of sunscreen, so off it comes asap with olive oil. > If I have bumps on my Using olive oil cleansing you won't have any bumps - the OO dissolves them. -- - perfumes, aromatics, classes, consultation
