Guest guest
Hi All, I have a question what do you do with essential oils, like citrus that really only last for six months, how do you dispose of them properly? What do you do with the oils that are like years old, like from 05 are they still good.? What also do you do with your bottles that they were stored in? I have tons of amber 16oz bottles? do you recycle them? if so how? Fragrance oils?, Thanks, Evemary

Guest guest
I don't dispose of any of my oils unless they smell off. Then, I have an old glass container that I put them in. Our county has a program where you take paint and things like that that are hazardous and I take them there. I don't throw away any of my glass amber bottles. I reuse them and have done that for years. After I wash them thoroughly by hand, I put them through the dishwasher and they are good as new for me. Boy, I'd take anyone's glass amber bottles, lol! Guest guest
I tend to use oils which are getting towards the end of their life for cleaning, washing floors, cleaning the bathroom etc. I also recycle glass bottles. First I soak them in hot soapy water and use a bottle brush to clean them out then put them in the hottest cycle of the dishwasher. Guest guest
I have gallon size amber jars that had herbs in them, and even after washing with soap and hot water, and rinsing very well with clean hot water and distilled vinegar, I cannot get the smell out of them or the caps. These particular ones held peppermint leaf and lavender herb. I would like to reuse them for storing coconut oil but don't know if the lingering smell will taint the oil. They are too large to put in the dishwashwer.
