Guest guest
Howdy Kathleen, > ahhh MAN Butch, you do know how to make a gal feel envious. No > veggies, no fruit this year AGAIN! You are living in the middle of farm country .. least ways, San Jose used to be. I hear that 90% of the world's artichokes are grown within a 50 mile radius of San Jose. > One question... did you make pickeled peaches? Those are AWESOME!!! Not since I lived in GA in the mid-1980s .. and you are right!!! > Also, you making ice cream with those peaches? or lower > calorie/fat content frozen Yoghurt? again YUM Making Pies and mixing peaches with plain yogurt .. we go through a half gallon of yogurt a week. Lately, sometimes yogurt and Blueberries is all I want for breakfast. Lemma say that this is the FIRST TIME I have ever tried to grow a 100% Organic garden .. and its a big one .. close to 6/10ths of an acre. We've been lucky this year as far as pests go .. lots of Flea Beetles on the Eggplants and Cabbage Worms on the Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts and Cabbage .. but that's it. I spray the Flea Beetles with soapy water with a tad of Oregano EO in it. The Worms I gotta squish twixt my fingers. Lucky we have been to have no Aphids but we gotta lotta Lady Bugs and Devil's Riding Horses to eat them critters. Didn't have a single Cherry attacked by bugs this year but the birds got half of them. Not a single Blueberry attacked yet and we're getting around 2 quarts a day from 6 plants .. and the Apple tree limbs are hanging low with fruit .. no attacks yet. I'll mention that we also have forty-leven zillion toads around here .. I reckon they are filling up with critters daily. Gardening is great physical and emotional therapy .. plus the goodies you get are a lot more healthy than the commercial stuff .. and it can save you a lotta money! > K > -- > Kathleen Petrides > Bead Hussy > http://www.BeadHussy.com Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com
Guest guest
I'm so glad to hear your garden is growing so well! And I'm a lot more relaxed hearing about you, Tanya and the baby being in your lovely garden in Paris TN than you being in the middle of Ankara sleeping on the floor under your desk with yer pistol to keep you warm ! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleofactory.com , " Butch Owen " <butchowen wrote: > > Howdy Kathleen, > > > ahhh MAN Butch, you do know how to make a gal feel envious.
