Guest guest
If you have dish satellite there are some university channels and on one of those channels they have a six part beginners Tai Chi class (and they're free)... I've got them recorded and they are actually pretty good even if the " teacher " comes across as " a bit out there " . That's just my opinion. BUT the lessons themselves are pretty good. Guest guest
There are many DVDs out there that teach Tai Chi/Qi Gong. You can learn at home during any weather. Some teach the entire form, some, a shorter version. Just depends on what you want.

Guest guest
That's an idea. I have directv - not sure if there are any university channels but I'll certainly look for them this weekend. Thanks for the suggestion! Judy
Guest guest
Tai chi is on now (as in the schedule), it's on a university channel (for me it's 9411). I always recorded mine at night as when that was when it was most frequently on. I had to record like 15 of them then erase the duplicates. But it worked out well. Guest guest
I did a search on dish for just Tai Chi & on nauhs ch 9411 there came up with " Tai Chi Lesson " I am going to tape the 2 am to see what it is. There is no info for any of the time slots just says " education " so I have no idea if they are all the same or different. They are from Mon-Sat. Guest guest
Hey Georgia You'll need to run it to see which lesson it is. The basic info is not very helpful. That's why I ended up with about 15 episodes and had to delete a bunch until I had the six. Guest guest
Hi Georgia, There are also some videos posted on You Tube. Additionally, you may find that Chi Kung (also spelled QiGong) is quite a bit easier to learn and also gives wonderful, relaxing results (all Tai Chi is a form of Chi Kung, but not all Chi Kung is Tai Chi .. think of it as a Grandfather to Tai Chi) http://youtube.com/user/uglyrain (this is my Master's videos) http://youtube.com/user/taichimatt (this gent has some good Chi Kung videos) Happy first official weekend of Summer to all! *Smile* Chris (list mom - SWELTERING in 98F heat with a 103F heat index) http://www.alittleolfactory.com , hahagranny wrote: > > I did a search on dish for just Tai Chi & on nauhs ch 9411 there came up > with " Tai Chi Lesson " I am going to tape the 2 am to see what it is. Guest guest
Hi Chris, Did you buy one of the dvds? Are you new to Tai Chi? Which do you recommend to start out with? Guest guest
Hi Georgia, I'm actually taking classes in Chen Style Tai Chi with Master Cheng Jin Cai over here in New Chinatown (by Bltwy 8 and Harwin). I did buy his video so I could practice in between classes, but he does the oldest and more rare style, Chen. Many folks do Yang Style, which a very popular style for general health and well being, rather than so much a Martial Art (as Chen style is). From what I've seen, most of the common videos at the stores are Yang style. Before I started training with Master Cheng I started out by checking a couple videos from the library Also, keep in mind .. MANY people who begin Tai Chi for health and wellness do so after the age of 55! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com , hahagranny wrote: > > Hi Chris, > Did you buy one of the dvds? Guest guest
Also, keep in mind .. MANY people who begin Tai Chi for health and wellness do so after the age of 55! Well, I definitely fit this category + some *S* So since I am not close to the area, which video would you recommend? Have you watched any of the programs on channel 9411? If not would you mind recording/watching one in all of your spare time & give me your recommendation? I trust your judgement. I really need to start something & Tai Chi is something that I have always been interested in. It seems so graceful, relaxing but also controlled & strength building.
