Guest guest
The Natural Perfumers Guild grew out of the efforts of Mandy Aftel author of Essence and Alchemy. Mandy and developed a warm friendship starting in 2005 and I took over the Guild in 2006 at her invitation. We are very happy with the direction the Guild goals have developed, and I find myself smiling every day at the wonderful community that has been born through the Guild - a great group of dedicated folks! What has been going on since 2006? Well, the Guild still offers mentoring to Enthusiasts who desire to develop their art as natural perfumers. Yes, the Guild Perfumers, Suppliers and Associates offer discounts to Guild members which often help a member recoup their membership fee very quickly. And yes, the Guild has taken on a bigger role in the education of the public and media, working tirelessly to help protect our rights to maintain access to aromatics despite some governmental and industry roadblocks, and yes, the role of the Guild continues to expand. You have recently read of the need to fight the FDA Global Harmonization Act of 2008 which would, if passed, put most, if not all, of the small artisan perfume and body care businesses in the USA out of business due to unreasonable fees. I was invited by the head of the Indie Beauty Network, Donna Marie Coles Johnson, to be part of a Coalition that is gathering members and logistics to fight the FDA/GHA. I spent the past two days writing to numerous blog owners and forums spread the message of the FDA/GHA fight, and helped gain many new signers to the petition. Donna Maria and I most recently worked on scoping out Business Liability Insurance at a reasonable rate for small business owners. The Guild will soon be offering that insurance to its members, now that we have grown to a size that garners a good rate. She also came on board when the Guild joined with Cropwatch to petition for the boycott of IFRA's 40th Amendment. It is good to have longtime connections within the aromatics and artisan worlds, and you will, too, with membership in the Guild. This letter is to invite you, whether you are a Supplier who sells only natural aromatics or accessory products, an Associate - well, you have to look at the varied professions of our Associates to see if you fit there :-) - and Perfumer - self explanatory category, and the heart of our Guild - and Enthusiast - folks who like what the Guild stands for and who want to be a part of this artisan community. If you'd like to join us, just visit http://naturalperfumers.com/apply.php Best wishes, -- - perfumes, aromatics, classes, consultation
