Guest guest
Howdy Saundra, > My name is Saundra and I live in North/Central Florida. Welcome to the group .. I'm sure you will enjoy it here. :-) > I make and sell lotions, creams, soaps and scrubs. I enjoy working > with EO's, herbs and natural Oils. I buy organic and wildcraft items > as often as I can afford, but sometimes it's just not in my budget. Organic and Wild Grown are fine .. the fact that an oil is claimed to be Certified Organic means little as far as quality goes .. and in fact, it might not even be Organic .. much less Certified. I and many others have written much on this over the years. > Can you please tell me what is the difference between Blood Orange > and Sweet Orange? As for the oil .. Odor and Origin and a slight difference in the chemical profile. There's a big difference in the taste of the fruit. > Is it better to use one more than the other in lotions, > soaps and/or scrubs. No. ;-) Its a matter of personal taste .. personal olfactory appreciation, identification and interpretation. My biggest sellers are Wild, followed by Blood and then Sweet .. and Sweet is the cheapest of the bunch .. not sure what that tells you. The problem with Citrus is there are too many problems. Botanical Names get us in the ballpark but there are so many cultivars and clones grown for commercial purposes that even the Botanical Names are often unreliable. Still .. they are far more reliable than Common Names. ;-) Blood Orange (Citrus sinensis) Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) Wild Orange (Citrus sinensis) Family ......... Citrus Genus .......... Rutaceae Species ........ has around 16 species Sub-species .... many Varieties ...... many Cultivars ...... many Check this post out: Orange Oil Differences Tue Feb 14, 2006 3:31 pm http://health./message/40358 Now lemme ask all the folks on the list .. do you think I could have found this post from 2006 in the archive if it had not had the title you see above? That's why I changed the title of this post .. not a slam on Saundra .. just something I have been stressing since I began writing on News Groups back in 1995. ;-) > Thanks in advance for any answers.
