There are many good natural remedies on the market, and different measures do the trick for different kids. The list " ADHD is nothing but " has a gazillion endings. We know one thing for sure: if the condition exists, ( if it does, I have it, it isnot caused by a Ritalin deficiency. I wrote this for another group a while back. Today's kids are the canaries in the proverbial coalmine. Except there is no outside (yet) to go to. We have never had this many man-made compounds in the food supply and the environment. Let's not use the term " chemical " , since everything can be described as chemical. Even if individual factors have been tested, nobody tested the whole cocktail. What we can do is take straws off the camel's back so to speak. Keep our own home as toxin-free as possible, and feed those poor kids the best diet possible. It ALL works. We do know one thing: whatever causes ADD, it is not Ritalin deficiency. I am Ms Natural. Try Food first is my motto. And: I met a nine-year old online, from Holland where ADD is not nearly as fashionable, who said that his first day on Ritalin was the best day of his life. Who am I to quarrel with that? Drugs work instantly, and in some cases they may be helpful while the deeper causes of the problem are being addressed. Sort of like training wheels for the brain. AND: a child on a drug has an even greater need for whole-food nutritional support and for herbal formulas that support the liver and kidneys to cope with the drug.
