sleep scent

My daughter has trouble falling asleep sometimes because of her variable

schedule. I was hoping to make her a " sleep " pillow, some fragrance she will

associate with falling asleep as a sleep aide for her.  I know lavendar is

prevalent, are there any other scents or oils that are good for sleep or

relaxation?

Thanks nanczee

Ylang Ylang works well, too, but my children literally ask for Lavender before

bedtime!

in your comment below..how do you administer these knock out drops to your

child? in a spray? soap? bubble bath? how do you do a pillow with scents? I'd

love to know this. I have a very excited HAPPY! HAPPY! HAPPY! little 3 year

old boy myself..and I've always bathed him in (shhh, yes, I cheated) Dr.

Bronner's organic bath..the lavender worked for a while..now I need to move on

to

bigger and stronger things..I started making him a soothing milk bath

treatment (with lavender of course) with a big bar of my soap..I used to call

my

organic lavender soap ( xanax in a bar) lol because they were purple on the

tops and would knock us both out, LOL

I'm so excited to hear how you do this...WOO HOO I feel sleep in the

horizon, lol

We find a blend of Green Mandarine, lavandin super, sweet marjoram and

Roman Chamomile works like knockout drops... you might try all of them

together or separately. It's a wonderful change off from lavender.

I made a " Monster Away " spray for a very happy 6 year old (picture your son

in 3 years) who was terrified of the 'monster' that lived in his closet. To a

2 oz. bottle of cyclomethicone I added a few drops of lavender and chamomile

EOs. A few shakes of the bottle to make sure it's mixed and a few squirts

around the bed and the little person is safe from monsters (monsters hate nice

smelling things) and they can tell it's working by the smell and before they

realize it, they are in dreamland

A lavender & chamomile scented linen spray would work too

I was just going to make a little sachet type pillow with cotton to

hold the scent. Since she uses her bed during the day she could put

it in a drawer or between the cases in her pillow until she gets ready

to go to sleep. Cut out a shape, cut out the shape one inch

larger on the sides. Put the right sides together making sure to fold

and pin in half inch from the top and bottom from the sides seeing

that they will overlap a little bit. Sew together. It should have an

opening down the back. Turn right side out. Stuff with polyester or

whatever you use and add the scented cotton balls. I suppose the

scent will have to be renewed now and again.

Do you use a glass bottle? What about the atomizer part - that is plastic.

The reason I am asking is a couple years ago I tried to mix some peppermint

& cinnamon oil with water to make a room deodorizer.

I used a spray bottle from Walmart. You can guess what happened. Within a

couple days the bottle looked like it had gone through a war.

I didn't know what else to use so I gave up and put drops on a clay

diffuser.
