Paula & Marge,

My 5 year old is so scared of the monsters, he even worries that they

will get our 70 lb. Chow/Shepard mix (that I try to convince him is

protecting him at night). I am new to this group today from San

Antonio, and I am done trying to convince him there is no such thing as

monsters. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! I'm making him some Monster

Away Spray tomorrow!!! Great idea!! I Like Marge's extended EO blend,

the more, the merrier! Thankful to be part of this group, you all seem

super nice!

Hi Bimmerkim,

Here is another recipe we have used with children to

SHOO the MONSTERS AWAY at BEDTIME

It's a room spray, for use by those that don't want to use a diffuser

in the room.

To make the Bedtime Spray mix of the following essential oils in a 8

ounce bottle of distilled water.

12 drops Roman Chamomile

12 drops Lavender and

8 drops Orange

30 drops of Emulsifier You need to mix your essential oils with the

emulsifier BEFORE adding them to the water. (There are many different

types of emulsifier - it helps mix the essential oils with the water -

to keep it from separating out and floating to the top of the bottle).

Mix, shake well and spritz on the pillow and in the air in the room.

This mixture is good where " monsters' hide too! : & #8722;)

Mix the Essential oils with the emulsifier, blend well then add to the

distilled water, shake well before spraying!

We have a couple more easy to make recipes for " Monster shooing " too!

Yours in Aromatherapy,

Penny

I have a hunch for something that *might* help.. try:

8-10 drops of Bergamot - too

3 drops of Sage Dalmation

and in addition, if you have Australian Sandalwood handy, maybe a couple

drops of that..

It would probably be best in a diffuser (maybe water based?).. Sage

could be either good, or bad for fear and anxiety - depends on the

reaction, but give it a shot hey?

But there is no replacement for the protection of mom.. ;) I hope you

find something that works, poor guy...

Forgot about one addition that might help: 1 drop of Galbanum! Sent

this out too fast. :)

even easier (and safer if there are infants in the room)... Lavender

Hydrosol, Neroli Hydrosol... almost any restful/soothing hydrosol... Roman

chamomile also comes to mind... or Owyhee, or Blue Tansy....

A former staffer's little one had school anxiety for K-2 or 3... Mom kept

a one oz Neroli Hydrosol spritzer in her purse... her daughter called it

her 'butterfly spray' " cause it makes the butterflies in my tummy go way "

Monsters are very sacry. I have been making Monster spray for

many years and it is very effective. The act of spraying the closets

and under the beds really gives the kids power.

I wish you luck and lavender is my main eo I use.

I also use squirt guns to put the spray in.

Cheers,

yup, we did that too and also chunked an axe or put a knife into the ground so

the kids would know the tornado would 'split' and we would be safe.......and if

you have a 'my buddy' doll.......GET IT OUT....after the 'Chuckie' scary movies

a boy I baby sat saw his run in his room at nite LOL......

Oh and changing their beds to north and south and not east and west. In native

tradition you do not put your bed east to west or you will have bad dreams.

That is the direction of those that sleep under the stars once they've crossed

over so north and south.

In our house we had a lot of 'ritual' or ceremony and salting the perimeters or

smudging and salting worked for my kids quite well.
