Guest guest
Paula (or anyone), Can you buy cyclomethicone locally? Would a place like Michaels carry it, or do you have to order it online? Thanks, Kimberly
Guest guest
You'll probably have to buy on line. I've learned that if you want a quality product, you have to start with quality ingredients and you won't find that at a craft store. The quality of the ingredients just isn't there either. Craft stores usually don't carry the ingredients/supplies we use. I wouldn't buy it at Michaels or Hobby Lobby or any craft store even if they did carry it. Who knows how long they have had it sitting in a warehouse in the heat or exposed to the heat in the back of a semi ? The only soap making supply I will buy at a craft store is some molds and paper packaging supplies. I teach soap making classes thru a local school systems adult ed dept. In the hand outs are is a list of on line suppliers. I include craft store ingredients and on line ingredients and show them the difference in quality so they can see for themselves the difference. Sorry, didn't mean to rant and/or ramble on. I have a soap/ bath & body business and have worked hard over the years to make my products a quality product made with quality ingredients. If you want to use make soaps as a 1 time thing, what they sell in craft stores would be ok. But I will not use it. If I don't know what is in it, how long the supplier has had it, how the supplier stores their inventory, etc.. going to shut up and go back to my corner now .... Guest guest
Thanks, Paula, I actually totally agree with you. A few years back, I made aromatherapy products for pets and would buy all of my stuff online. Was just wondering because I've found lye for soapmaking at Home Depot and since I wasn't familiar with the cyclomethicone, I wondered if it could be found locally. I did actually end up using Lavender hydrosol as the base, and the spray worked wonders. It was the first night my son went to bed with a calmness about him! If I do buy anything from a store like Michaels, it's just once to test it out. I get into other crafts every day, and I can get a small amount at a craft store, before I have to buy a bigger amount online. That allows me to see if I can make the product or if I like it. I really like getting stuff from www.camden-grey.com. They have a huge selection and have the best prices around. They are based out of Miami and I found them when I was in West Palm Beach. I'm gonna see if they carry it. Thanks for the advice. I always remember what my mom says, " You get what you pay for " .
