Guest guest
I have two bottles giving me heck right now. The first is a 16oz bottle of Sweet Almond Oil and seems to be leaking from under the cap. It's screwed on tight, appears to be snapped shut, but somehow it's still seeping through. Any suggestions on fixing this wayward bottle? Is the oil just too thin for being bottled this way? The second is a small bottle of jasmine EO that the dropped cap refuses to drop anything out. I've tried washing the cap, making sure air flows through it, and even tried opening the flow hole a bit more. Nothing works. This oil does seem a bit heavier/thicker than the EO's I've worked with previously. Ever have this happen? Is it time to try to find a dropper/pipet? If so, I'm assuming I should get glass?? Thanks, Selah
Guest guest
Hi Selah You didn't say what kind of bottle or what type of cap. You might just have a defective one and need to replace it. I have often had problems with oozing from the tops of bottle with fixed oils in them. NOt because they're leaking but because there is residual oil around the top from pouring it out and then when you put the cap back on, it smooshes it all out. I have put most of my fixed oils in bottles with those turret tops and that seems to resolve the problem. I'm assuming your " jasmine eo " is actually jasmine absolute, since there is no eo that I'm aware of. Absolutes can be more viscous than eo's and you may just need an orifice reducer (the plastic dropper part) with a larger opening size. I think they come in at least three different sizes. See Euro dropper caps at: http://www.essentialsupplies.com Of course you can use glass or plastic pipettes instead but it would be less convenient - depends on how often you're using it. (It's generally not advisable to leave the pipettes in the bottle between uses because the rubber bulb can break down over time and lend a bad odor to the stuff.)
