Guest guest
know anything about it? Himself is now looking around northern CO and sounding too chirpy for my liking. So I did some snooping on the web, Ft Collins looks prettier than Denver... any comments about the area. K P.S. Waving at Butch, glad to see you back on the job... at least we might actually hear from you once in a while. ;-) -- Kathleen Petrides Bead Hussy http://www.BeadHussy.com
Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, I live just south of Ft. Collins in Longmont. I love Colorado and could never live anyhwere else now that I have been here for 18 yrs. We just moved out of the Denver area so we could farm. Ft. Collins is a nice city. The main difference between Ft. Collins and Denver is size. Denver is a huge city while Ft. Collins is quite small so you have the benefits and downsides of each - so it really depends on whether you want big or small and where jobs are available. You'll be seeing plenty of Denver next week on TV with the Democratic Convention! Guest guest
Cindy, how is the job market up there? We are looking to move. It hit us, we can be poor here and hate the place or we can be poor in a beautiful place and for us, the Rockies and rock hunting etc was really a family thing. I left at 17 and have missed seeing Pikes Peak. I could gauge how to get anywhere by where the mountains were. I was literally at the base of Cheyenne Mountain in a little school......Norad is in that and the Will Rogers shrine and not a day goes by that I don't think of that mountain range.....Mount Pisgah (sp) is soooooooooo cool. On a clear day you can see the Sangre De Christo range, Cascades, and the lady bugs all gather there each year.......we had them all over us . I was able to hike before I lost my health one more time as an adult and found an extremely old and odd man made structure and no one is sure who did it. We were just on the edge of where the baseball player Goose Gositch lives. My brother played against him and had better stats. He could out pitch and out hit, pitchers typically cannot hit well, my brother could hit with the best of them and lost his scholorship....too many keggers..... I wanna come home. Either Colorado or I'll take parts of Wyoming. Montana is cool as is Idaho too. I got shot at coming back from fort collins........long story and back in the day. Did ya'll know Aspen at one point was asking for 'the poorer economical classes of people' to come and move there? Dont think I wasn't buggin the spouse about that one! I guess they wanted an even distribution or laborers LOL..........and my friends almost bought a place in Cripple Creek. The building was from the wayyyyyyyyyyyy old days and they turned it down as it needed a lot of work.......a year later the place sold for 1.5 mil. Gambling came to town. Ran off those who grew up there too with taxes. I WANT MY ROCKIES. e sorry for the rant....hearing these places I've lived or been to and loved really gets my memories going. word to the wise.....rubby slippers don't work..... --- On Fri, 8/22/08, Cindy Jones <cindyjones1 wrote: > Cindy Jones <cindyjones1 > Re: Ft. Guest guest
Well, heard from himself. He's very enthusiastic about Ft. Collins. Says it's prettier than Spokane and of course, if he needs to work, there are tech companies there (el zippo in Spooky town). He says his choice right now is to move to Colorado. I agree that there (according to what I read) a lot of things to recommend Ft. Collins, but I sure wanted to head back to familiar stomping grounds. One draw back to Ft. Collins... Nearest costco is 43 miles away. Not a big deal to a lot of folks, but witha family of six to feed, I like buying in bulk. ;-) Well, as we move in about three months, we'll have to make a decision quickly... sigh. Guest guest
Now Evie, if you were to move here we might be able to stir up some trouble together, heh, heh!! I don't go to the Springs much though except for a soccer game now and then with my son's team. As for Techy places, there is an HP in Ft. Collins and an IBM south of Longmont. Don't know what type of places either is though. The cost of living is high in Colorado though but with all the forclosures of late maybe you could pick up a house for not much! I don't do Costco Kathleen and the only one I know is right on I-25 just north of Denver. At least its easy to get to on the interstate. I keep thinking to try them out though for things like olive oil that I use in soaps as well as salt for scrubs. I lived in Eastern Wash (Pullman) and I'd have to say I think Colorado is prettier! Well, if any of you move here let me know. I would like to start an herb discussion group. I go to Herb Society meetings sometimes in Denver, but would like to have something closer.
