Howdy Pam,

I was wondering if someone :-) could tell me which 'jasmine' is

> preferred - and if so why

Asking for opinions on such this is fine if you're starting from Ground Zero

but don't bet your last buck on the validity of opinions when comparing two

fine quality botanical extracts from a preferred origin .. all we will get

are personal opinions that are of little value for planning sales .. you

wrote previously that you intended to start custom bottling for someone.

Its like asking which flavor of ice cream is preferred. Olfactory

appreciation and interpretation are individual .. very personal they are.

If one of the Jasmines was consistently preferred over the other then I

would offer only one .. wouldn't make sense to sit on the large investment

required to stock the other. Same goes for other EO/Absolutes .. there is

no " preferred " Lavandula angustifolia so I stock English, Bulgarian and

French.

The only time I could give a valid reply would be if we were comparing the

same Botanical from different Origins .. then there will be a consensus

of opinion because, for example, most folks would agree that a Pogostemon

cablin from Indonesia or India is far superior to one from China .. or a

Rosa damascena from Turkey or Bulgaria is far superior to one from Russia ..

and so on with many other EO.

Falling back on the three Lavenders I mentioned above, there is no firm

agreement because they are all fine quality and there are those who prefer

one over the other .. some would rather fight than switch. ;-)

Yes ma'am .. you have received two valid opinions from the group already ..

but I recommend you get a sample of both of the Jasmines (Origin India) from

some seller .. easier to answer your own question then.

Most folks would agree that Catnip (Nepeta cataria) has an unpleasant odor

... but I have two customers who like that odor .. so we gotta walk

carefully. ;-)
