OFF topic, micro-finance help for a list member

Dear List,

 

How many people do we have on this group? Between us all it shouldn't be too

hard to come up with a gift of $250 for a very deserving online friend, should

it?

 

Sort of like a Grameen micro-finance thing, except we could just donate it

instead of lending.

 

The person I am talking about will remain anonymous for now, we ended up

chatting off list and I am blown away

by this woman. She does NOT know I am writing this.

 

I see strength of spirit and incredible stamina in the face of more hardship,

physical and emotional pain than most of us have to deal with in a lifetime.

 

The small gift of $250 would enable her to buy the raw materials she needs

to continue her soap etc business.

 

Earth knows I am not exactly well off,

but I have some US dollars in my paypal that I would gladly donate to a

good cause.

 

We'd be helping someone to help herself. Someone who has been doing exactly that

and just wants a chance to

keep doing this.

 

I don't want to say more until I get some reactions. Once again: the list member

in question does NOT have any idea I am writing this.
