Guest guest
Okay... so, as happens periodically when " allergy season " arrives and I haven't paid enough attention... my allergies attack and I get post nasal drip which irritates my throat and causes me lots of really heavy coughing and sneezing, and then my vocal cords get all mad and inflamed, and I end up losing my voice and sound (as my dear boyfriend puts it) like I swallowed a frog. Much amusement for everyone in my office, I gotta say. (To those folks who laugh, I just give 'em a good squinty glare, point my finger, and say " You just wait until I can talk normally again - THEN you'll be sorry! " ) Anyway, can anyone recommend anything to soothe both the coughing and vocal cord inflamation? I'm already trying to talk as little as possible, but if you really know me, you also know that's nearly impossible! Thanks! Guest guest
I like to chew on Licorice Root. It will coat and soothe your throat. You should be able to get them at a good Herbal, Tea or Natural Nutrition store. Cheers, Connie Hunt
Guest guest
My Grandpa swore by hot tea with a Tablespoon of raw honey and one of good whiskey too in it. Sometimes he had a tea of whatever herbs/flowers/roots... that my Cherokee grandma would go out into the woods and gather and sometimes it was plain old Lipton. Either way, he said it was the honey and whiskey in a warm drink that did the trick.
