Guest guest
Crosspost- Another Ike survivor heard from Well, finally getting to the computer after a week of debris cleanup. We had minimal damage (corner of house, some fascia, porch gone and carport caved in) from a pine splitting and falling on the corner of the house and the above mentioned. Huge oak fell in back yard, twisted and barely missed the back patio cover (had it not twisted it would have plunged through the middle of the house. It took out the south part of the fence. My van got one ding, and hubby's pickup got two dings from a tree limb. All in all we were blessed, as we are safe and the house has no real damage. Waiting now on the adjuster, and we are low on the totum pole as we had minimal damage. Glad all the rest of list members in our area are safe as well. Although I haven't read all the 200 + emails I have in my box. Oh, for those of you who don't know, and the news doesn't report, Ike was 650 miles in circumference and I live 77 miles north of the end of I-45, which is a few blocks from the Galveston seawall. Most of the local stations were only covering Houston and Galveston, not the rest of TX, LA, MS, and Arkansas that was affected. Don't know what the national news covered, as for six days all I saw was local news. We did loose power, but it came back on Wed. We ran a small generator for a fan, two lamps, and alternated the fridge and freezer. Also had a propane stove in my soap shop that I could cook on. Well back to debris clean up (ten trees down or will have to come down), AND some soap and toiletries to make for two big wholesale orders. Did call the customers and tell them the orders would be delayed though. Blessings to all~ Anita
