A total of 59 folks took advantage of the offer and lucky folks they

are .. I think. ;-) Rhe majority of those who ordered are from

the Oils & Herbs and the Natural Perfumery and Natural Perfumer's

Guild News Groups .. so the purpose of this post is to (1) Inform

buyers of the status of their order and .. (2) To offer those who

did not order a last chance to do so.

 

Status: The Rose Otto has not yet left Turkey .. all orders except

the 25 ml sizes have been poured and bottled. The producer sells

almost all of his product in 1 Kilogram cans .. in this case the

process was slowed because 47 of the orders were for 25 gram sizes

and he ran out of that size can and had to order more. He believes

that he will receive them either tomorrow (Friday - 26 September) or

at the latest on Monday (29 September) .. and the order will take at

least one day to pour after the cans are received.

 

When this is completed the entire order is then sent for processing

through Turkish Customs and then it is shipped to Baltimore, MD .. in

Baltimore it will be processed through U.S. Customs and then my

Freight Forwarder will ship it on to our company.

 

But there is another hold up .. Seker Bayram (Sugar Holiday) .. the

period of celebration following the end of Ramadan (the Holy Month of

Fasting and Praying) .. begins at Noon next Monday (29 September) and

continues through noon next Friday (3 October) .. ALL Turkish

government offices will be closed then.

 

This means that odds are VERY SLIM that the order will ship before

Monday, 6 October. I hope that it will be in our hands within 6-7

days of it leaving Turkey .. but I can not guarantee this because

Government Customs folks work at their own pace. I will notify all

buyers when it arrives and their orders will be shipped immediately

after it arrives.

 

The good news is that those who did purchase are getting the Rose

Otto for less than it costs other buyers now and less than it will

sell for in the future. The producer gave me an 8 kilo guarantee

and I filled it because I also purchased some for my company .. and I

will NOT offer Rose Otto at Wholesale prices this year .. after

receipt of the product all of my sales will be Retail only.

 

The producer is about sold out now and he has raised his price by 150

Euros per kilo. My Euro price is still locked in .. as is the price

for those who have already purchased and those who might purchase

now. The producer is an old friend as well as the person I have

selected to accompany me to Afghanistan when we set up the Rose Otto

production facility there later this year .. so this is more than

just a commercial transaction between a buyer and a seller. ;-)

 

I can understand him raising his price because its a supply vs demand

issue now. Just since I made my offer on 4 September my cost for the

product has gone up 7% .. it went up over 4% since last Thursday ..

the reason is that I must purchase in Euros and the Euro to Dollar

exchange rate is continuing to take a beating due to our current

economic crisis. I must now pay more U.S. Dollars to purchase one

Euro. One Euro costs 1.47 U.S. Dollars today.

 

Opportunity: One buyer ordered 1 kilo and then asked to change it

to 500 grams because her buyers backed off .. another buyer canceled

a 500 gram order due to an unforeseen financial problem. In both

cases I agreed to return their deposit after the Rose Otto is

delivered and after I collect the remaining funds due. This leaves

1 kilo (1,000 grams) available IF anyone wants to order now. There

is but one kilo remaining .. so I will not sell that entire kilo to

one person .. my profit margin has already been reduced too much due

to the Dollar to Euro exchange rate.

 

Accordingly .. the following will be available for order until

Midnight, Saturday, 4 October 2008:

 

25 grams .... $ 270.00 ...... roughly .88 ounces

 

50 grams .... $ 520.00 ...... roughly 1.76 ounces

 

100 grams ... $ 940.00 ...... roughly 3.53 ounces

 

250 grams ... $2,200.00 ..... roughly 8.82 ounces

 

500 grams ... $4,200.00 ..... roughly 17.63 ounces

 

All other requirements contained in the original post (referenced

above) remain valid .. including the requirement to make a 50% down

payment.

 

I will not be able to make any changes once the order is given to

Turkish Customs.

 

So .. there will be some delay (which is beyond my control) in

getting the orders into your hands .. but is worth waiting for and

those who have ordered have lost nothing but some time. The only

losses that will occur will be to those who have not or do not

order .. and a bit to me due to the exchange rate. ;-)
