I have enjoyed making my own skin care products with essential oils and various other natural ingredients for the past 15 years. Not only do I have peace of mind that I know exactly what I am putting onto my skin, I have also saved a fortune! While I believe that nothing compares to hand made products, essential oils are being used in the manufacturing of skin products like never before. If you have the skill and knowledge to replace commercially produced products than by all means go for it! Guest guest
What do you use as a carrier oil? I have tried Tamanu, but it made my face break out. - J M I am in my 40's, and everybody tells me my skin looks great for my age, and i look 10 yrs younger than my actual age. first of all sunscreen is most important. use day moisturizer with sunscreen, and if u r going to be long hours outdoor use high spf sublock lotion secondly always remove makeup gently, es p eye make up, as the skinaround eye area is v. delicate. i use a combination of frankincense, rose, sandalwood, fennel and lavender for my night oil i make enough for a month, and like to use other combinations such as geranium, neroli, chamomile but frankincense is my top favourite. i've never tried heli, is it good for wrinkles? tc Jay
Guest guest
When a woman & Men turn 30 her skin, hormones etc., everything changes...with that being said.. my fiancee is a Dr. & a pharm 1 he's always told me to use pure 100% cocoa butter on my face & nothing else-(which I do use it alone but in addition I use my own product line) which have very key ingred's. in them.. including the 100% cocoa butter with my daily regimine.....after meeting his 80 yo mom and his 53 yo sister. Now I know why the swear by it..Just amazing it's all they have ever used...I'll never go without it. He order's it for me at his pharmacy the kind that's so hard you can't barely get it out with a stick (lol)..you can rub small dime size amount thru your fingers and put in on without a drag to your skin...It heats to the warmth in your skin.also.. drinking water and honestly wearing a sunscreen SPF 20+ daily-everyday will also help assist in wrinkle worriers..I worked with & in the lab @ Chanel, Estee Lauder, & Clinique for many years during college and early adult hood...and I've had some extensive high $ training (which is a blessing for my business now) who would have known? lol I'd be in this business....remember men and women all need to 1. wash (cleanse) 2 tone 3. moisturize 4. 2 X a week exfolliate to have the very best looking skin out there..as good as a 20 Yo.. Change your products and increase or decrease as your skin changes during the seasons or times of stress and illness...and every 10 years of age related skin changes.. I'm 42 and most think I'm 24 good genes? maybe a combo but I dedicated my early adult life to studying, researching, & helping a educating other's in taking care of their skins (and my own)..There are such oils (such as shea, tamanu, pumpkin seed oil, flax seed, and borage oil, and faithful old EVOO) in the market today which claim skin cell rejuvenation..I agree with some of the claims due to mini experiments we do in the studio..some of them have such promise..and EMU is going to be the very next Aloe Vera of our times..also the latest spa uses for results on the spot are DNA and STEM CELL ampules...and Marine Algae Products are all the rage and do WORK..ever heard of Lamere? you should chk. out they key ingred. in their products..they charge $250 for a 2 oz. jar..I believe the size and price are roughly accurate these products work and have a cult following..JLo skin's a result of the sea marine materials.. More and more are using royal jelly, honey, etc., to enhance their products for a more broader market..the next time your out in the store take a look at what's going in our store bought shampoo's which I don't use..I make my own..I call them chemical washings..LOL FYI carrot, pumpkin, pomegranate, and cranberries are also going to be all the rage in the next few beauty years..lol-- there's a slue more but I'm about to fall asleep... I hope this helps.. after all..it's Just my two (2) cents Robin In a message dated 10/10/2008 11:52:26 A.M. I woke up 20 minutes ago, five minutes later there was a local news channel interview with a local herbalist for your exact question.. The interview suggested: Lavender (Primary Suggestion), Geranium (which I have used in the past), and Chamomile (for inflammation)I However, there are a couple that were not mentioned probably because of liability reasons that have greater skin complexion enhancing properties. The first to come to my mind is Helichrysum. Also as suggested in the TV program, an avocado base oil with around 10% of the essential oil is probably a good idea. You could also try Grapeseed and Jojoba carrier base oils. Another oil that I use, and although I am still young, not to be self indulgent, makes my complexion look like great youth: Sandalwood Undiluted Sandalwood (Santalum Album) can be very expensive, but you can find it very reasonably priced in a dilution like the above Helichrysum (which is also a very expensive essential oil undiluted). However, Australian Sandalwood works just as well, and is VERY inexpensive if you want to buy it undiluted and mix it yourself. Out of my two suggestion - I would Google " Helichrysum " first, and from the interview my suggestion would be " Geranium " . Andy
