Here's how I did it back when....recipe came from The Last Whole Earth Catalog....Balloon Wine Thaw 12-13 oz can of frozen grape concentrate.... Get a very clean gallon jug.... Mix with 4-1/2 cups of sugar and a package of dry yeast (I used Red Star) and fill the jug up to the shoulder with water....I used warm water... You can use 1/2 to 1 cups less sugar, but remember, the yeastie beasties need the sweet to eat, and then they excrete....alcohol... Stir *very* well........ Tie a heavy balloon around the neck of the bottle... As the yeasties do their thing, the balloon will inflate... Great conversation piece....<G>.... Let stand for 21 days.... The balloon will inflate and then deflate.... If the balloon deflates before 21 days, it's done at that time..... Otherwise....21 days and filter and bottle...deflate or not.... As it was Winter when I did this, I kept it near a radiator in the apartment...(drafty old East Side Milwaukee vintage apt).... I did this a couple of times, and the novelty wore off....Jug wine was pretty cheap back then........but it was something I had to try....<G>.... Also...wine making kits and supplies are sold......Do a Google and there's lots.....If you're really interested in this, that might be way to go.... -- Gary W. Bourbonais L'Hermite Aromatique A.J.P.
