They are really stinning, I think, and can be polished to a very smooth and beautiful patina. The beads that I make are rougher and more porous. That's sort of the point, though, so that they can hold and release the scent of the oils that in them - and then later reapplied - as they warm next to the body. I use all kinds of plants. Lemon verbena, patchouli, mint... they all work.
