Guest guest
This message is a repeat for some of you... This is an invitation to a BUSINESS list, not a holistic therapy list. To be more precise, a business helping businesses community list. So if you just want to talk aromatherapy etc, you don't want to be there. I'm not here to filch/steal members from Chris' list. That would be tacky and while I ain't got much class, I do have SOME! LOL!! It was brought up on another list that times are bad and getting worse. Small business are really taking a beating and closing down by the thousands. SO: This is what I have been thinking and you can tell me what's wrong with it, what's right with it and what else we can do. I know there is a lot more that we can do, but I just need some help with the ideas. We could form a loose alliance of businesses... no particular business, because you never know when you might need an accountant, a web creator, toy maker, knitter, soaper etc. Have each business listed by state and then by city, by genre etc. on a Fabgabbing website... Keep reading, my thoughts have always been jumbled and the website is just slowly taking form in my brain. Each member would get and give some kind of discount to other members. Each member would have a logo of the association, alliance etc on their FRONT page, which links to another members front page, a ring. I'm not talking something huge and ugly, just something noticable. We could run it from the Fabgab list and each week one or two members would get to have their website, business strategies critiqued by other members. And any member who wanted advice on their website, business, or helpful suggestions would volunteer to critique... Because, if you don't give, you don't get. Each week on Mondays you can list any items you have for sale and if you are up for a barter. Which you can do anyway on every Monday, so that would remain the same. Membership would be free for the first 75 people to join for the first year. New Members after the first 75 and the following year, starting in January 2010, membership would be $25.00 per year. Reasons are, if you leave it open for the first 75, you build up a data base of partners quicker, which will spread the world quicker... and why pay $25.00 a year? Because although it's a nominal fee, it show's you are interested in participating and benefiting from the other members. It's small enough not to stop anyone from participating, and just large enough to get your attention. And yes, I learned this from a group I once belonged to. Also, people joining up after the first 75 would slow things waaaaaaay down as people hate to pay out any kind of fee ( ;-) ), which is just fine because the we don't want the community over whelmed in the beginning. Members responibilities would be, the membership logo. Helping out other members with advice and help when requested. And referrels. for example, you know anyone going to Iowa... You can check your Membership list, see who's in Iowa and suggest that they get looked up. Or if they need help in other areas that you can't help them with, you can check the list to see if we have a (ex) mechanic on the list. Ask for business cards from your partners and send them out with any packages you mail. If you make up brochures, you can have a " Some of our proud partners are page:... " and yes I stole that idea too, from the back of a national park brochure... it must work cuz EYE read it. ;-) We can also have a " member of the week " page. We could build it up even bigger for members to come in and talk to other members as it grows. A members board, although being a techie idiot I would need help with that section if Front Page is clueless. Something that would require a password to keep the no good, rotten, low-life, slimey, band stealing, Crap Spammers out. Which is where the $25.00 Membership fee would go.. to Building up and maintaining the website. Members would be able to claim (for example) " Aromatic Sage, a VIP member of the FabGabber Association (alliance, community, whatever) " We can also award... Awards! the Fab-Gab Association (alliance, whatever) award for Best Website, Customer Service, Innovative Idea etc. They could be posted on your website and on your stationary etc. Yes I have more ideas, I have been thinking about this for sometime... But these are some of the most basic ones. So does this sound like something you would be interested in participating in? If so, you can send an email to Fabgab- Remember, this is a business community so it will be up each of us to help each other with thinks like marketing, exposure, whether key words are more important or articles, whether rss feed will be a way to go, whether linkedin or ryze actually help etc. This is NOT a how to make soap, creams, salts, which oils are irritators etc, list. -- Kathleen Petrides Bead Hussy http://www.BeadHussy.com
