Guest guest
Hello everyone, I joined this group so that I can learn some ways of getting healthy through diet and getting vitamins through diet. I have some disabling conditions including fibromyalgia and injuries. It is hard for me to manage those issues because I have an extremely sensitive stomach (including GERD, gastritis, acid stomach) that gets triggered when I've tried to take medicines or supplements and even some kinds of vitamins. Dietary restrictions. I can't eat: Anything acidic or hot: citrus, tomatoes, anything that has the word 'pepper' in it - including black pepper, many spices (hot ones) Anything processed, hormones, " natural flavors " Anything hard to chew (I have TMJ) Anything that has an energy spike: sugar, caffeine, agave, spirulina, ginseng Anything with tanic acid: berries, tea of any kind Anything with yeast It's difficult to find vitamins or health foods that don't have any of the above ingredients in them. Even the fresh foods at Whole Foods usually have lemon, pepper, tomatoes or cayenne flavoring it. I've seen products advertised as yeast-free but I've never seen any products claiming to be acid-free, spice-free, or citrus-free. One of my favorite healthy meals is a beet salad. Cook one beet with the skin on, in a pot of water covering the beet, until it is soft. Peel the beet. Grate the beet into a bowl. Soak some prunes in a bowl of water. When they are plump, cut them up and place in the bowl. Add some olive oil and stir. Serve warm. That is the way I eat it, but some other people put nuts in it and serve it cold. Anyway, nice to meet all of you. Jennifer
