Guest guest
Hello all, I love sugar scrubs and I prefer natural and organic ingredients, so I find them rather pricey. Does anyone have a basic recipe for sugar scrubs? Also I am very new to making my own toiletries and don't know - do I need to put the sugar in a food prcessor or coffee grinder to make it smaller? Thanks so much. A generous scoop of Brown Sugar (light or dark will work equally well), enough of your favorite <http://www.naturesgift.com/aromatherapycar_ord.htm>carrier oil to gently moisten, and one or two drops of Sandalwood oil...soothing to the skin, and the aroma just sweetens the brown sugar. Gently scrub away winterdull skin, without the sting of salt. >One of our customers, who would like to remain anonymous, has been playing >with a Coffee Sugar Scrub. One thing to be aware of - salt scrubs, if made with 50% salt, are self-preserving. Sugar scrubs are not, and if wet fingers bring in bacteria, it can feed there. I'm thinking, for a coconut scrub,... Virgin Coconut Cream Oil with sugar stirred in... yummmmmm >Also I am very new to making my own toiletries and don't know - do I need >to put the sugar in a food prcessor or coffee grinder to make it smaller? depends how coarse the sugar is, and how sensitive your skin is, honestly..... that's one of the 'you can if you choose to' options. >Thanks so much. > >Mike and Kathy Barnabi Springs End Farm Boer Goats,Great Pyrenees Dogs >and one spoiled rotten English Shire Horse >141 Big Springs Road >Lebanon, TN 37087 You're just a few miles east of us...we're in Madison! Guest guest
Hi Kathy- I have a very popular recipe for a nice thick scrub that doesn't separate. 38g hard butter - cocoa, kokum, etc 22g soft butter - shea, mango, etc 8g Beeswax 1/2t Rosemary Oleoresin Extract 2 c sugar & /or salt 1T citric acid 8 oz plant oil Works great and leaves a nice protective layer on the skin. No need for moisturizing post scrub and also great to use before shaving instead of shaving cream. Have fun. Scrubs are a lot of fun to experiment with.
