Won't say it > will not react with other chemicals in the oil but it will keep the air off > and I'd bet it's cheaper than some new rose. > What you are discussing is called Nitrogen Flushing ... and true it is that bottles of compressed Nitrogen can be purchased from many sources .. including better wine shops. The idea to to displace Oxygen and it works because Nitrogen is heavier than Oxygen. Nitrogen is colorless, odorless and tasteless and inert under standard conditions .. it will NOT harm the flavor or wine or have a detrimental effect on the chemical profile of an essential oils. We go through a lot of Nitrogen bottles at my company because we Nitrogen Flush all of our containers .. from 1 kilgram up to 50 kilos barrels. However .. if people wantg to try to do this with a small 10 or 20 ml bottle of Essential Oil be very careful because it might well splash out onto your skin or into your eyes. If you do get an EO in your eye .. disregard the misinformation so common in this industry .. do NOT use milk or vegetable oil on the eye .. use clear, fresh water. True it is that EO will not dilute in water .. and will dilute in a fatty substance .. but .. do you want to dilute the EO and spread it around the eye .. or .. do you want to flush it out PDQ? ALL of the professionals and distillers will agree with me .. but the misinformation is so widespread that some folks have maybe begun to fantasize that they actually had a first hand successful experience using vegetable oil. ;-) If you want to slow down the process of oxidation in an EO its simply a matter of removing as much oxygen as possible from the bottle .. and this can be done by pouring your EO into smaller bottles as you use it .. or .. if you can find small, 100% pure glass beads .. drop them into the bottle. Either of these actions will remove the dead space - head space ... or whatever you want to call it .. where the oxygen would have been. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com <http://www.av-at.com/> PS: Kathleen .. you are next. ;-)
