Guest guest
Hey Kathleen, Oh POOH! > Right. ;-) > I kept that bottle in the dark, I suspect the problem was that there was > very little left and the oil imploded simply BECAUSE there was so little > left. Okay, it OXIDIZED. > That it did .. and though keeping oils out of direct or indirect sunlight is good, its not enough. Also .. remember that all those 1 ml bottles are clear .. they are the only ones that are clear. I have kept my 1 ml bottles of 1999 (and later) Turkish Rose Otto in Kodak film containers .. the black type that film used to come in. I saved them for years because they make great containers for various sizes of fish hooks and many other little this's and that's. > You yourself started warning me 2 or 3 years ago to start using it or > I was going to lose it. Well, I did. Up to a point. > When did you start listening to people? ;-) > Because it was my favorite though, I tried to save some for something > special... to ME! I'm not selling my " nose poison " or giving it away. > Although I did try it on the boys, they liked it too. ;-) > Good it is you are not selling it .. I'd hate for you to get a reputation like that of Young Living. ;-) > I also suspect the reason that the other bottle was still okay was > because > it was UNOPENED and SEALED. > When a bottle is unopened oxidation becomes far less likely .. there will be some oxygen in any bottle as there will be some headspace .. but unopened bottles do defy the commonly held beliefs about normal shelf life. Truth is .. properly stored Rose Otto will last 10 years or more .. I say or more because I have not had any older than that .. yet. And the odor does improve over time. > I am not " now into synthetic scents " . Only one. And that's because I > can't > GET the real thing. Shoot me because I love the scent of lilacs and have > decided that even a fake scent is better than nothing./ > I'll let you slide this time .. and admit that I have sort of gotten used to some weird odors since November. Throughout the deer season (which ended on 11 January) I would douse my clothing with both male and female commercial deer urine .. and I got used to it. I'm thinking about gettting with Anya and see if we might maybe collaborate on producing a Deer Pee perfume for hunters. ;-) > Maybe I shouldn't suggest that you shoot me though, you're onery > enough to DO IT!!! > Naaa .. I wouldn't shoot you .. dang 30.06 ammo has gone sky high now .. and besides that .. now that I have retired I don't shoot things I don't eat unless they are interfering with the life, liberty or property of me or mine ... and I already got 6 White Tail deer in the freezer. ;-) > AND it was definately the bottle of rose. Or should I say, it was > definately > the 4 or 5 drops I had left, cuz I went to the source of each one and put > my > distinctly average nose in it and sniffed. Even an average nose can smell > if > something has finally given up the ghost. > If we do decide to produce Deer Pee perfume .. I'll send you a bottle .. free. ;-) > And Yes, I should have finished off when you warned me to. But I didn't. > So > instead of getting to enjoy the last of it, I lost it. And that makes me > sad. It also shows that I had better start using my other roses or I'm > going > to lose those too. > Depends on the production year and how full the bottle is .. you know how to slow down oxidation. > Now Mr. Grumpus, Go hug the Great One, kiss your beautiful wife and > forgive us imperfect people for wanting something they like even if it's > FAKE. > Done .. Alexander is downstairs playing with his new fire truck .. he wanted me to set the burn barrel on fire today so he could put it out. ;-) > You can yell at me the day I start saying " genuine lilac " or even start > giving > it away or Gods Forbid, selling it. > Not gonna yell. I know that your standard of olfactory appreciation is rather unusual. I have not forgotten you wanting to play with all those purty little black kittens with white stripes down their backs that came out of the desert and were hanging around our digs there in Old Town Albuquerque. I reckon if folks can tolerate perfumes like Poison there are some others who can tolerate Pole Cats. ;-) > And I'm glad to see you even if you're ranting at me. > Thank you ma'am .. I am just about too busy to write anymore on the lists. Comes a time after many years where you just wanna reference a previous post made 10 years ago and let it go. ;-) > K > > -- > Kathleen Petrides > Bead Hussy > http://www.BeadHussy.com <http://www.beadhussy.com/> > Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch ... http://www.AV-AT.com <http://www.av-at.com/>
