Citric Acid An extra fine granular Citric Acid which is USP Grade. Citric Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid typically derived from fruit. Though it can be used to lower the pH of formulations, we recommend Hydroxy-Mild (Lactic Acid) for that particular application because Citric Acid is one of the more irritating Alpha Hydroxy Acids. Citri-FINE should not be used to create exfoliating or AHA products because of its high irritancy potential. Citri-FINE is available as an extra fine, snow white granule. While Citric Acid is readily available as a granule, we carry this specialty grade because it is the absolute best choice for the production of fizzing bath products. When combined with Soda-Soft (Baking Soda) and other fillers, then pressed into a mold, Citri-FINE will yield a fizzing bath product that is less delicate, and will not break when unmolded thanks to its EXTRA FINE granule size. Get the full details: http://www.ingredientstodiefor.com/item.php? item_id=152 Lactic Acid 88% Solution L+ Lactic Acid is the natural form of this multifunctional cosmetic ingredient, and is metabolized by the body more readily than the synthetically produced Lactic Acid. When compared to Glycolic or Citric Acids, Lactic shows greatly reduced irritancy while offering pronounced efficacy in exfoliating and skin rejuvenating formulations. When used at concentrations of 2% or less, Hydroxy-Mild will perform its pH regulating, antimicrobial, and moisture binding functions. When used at concentrations higher than this, Hydroxy-Mild will perform these functions as well as offering: * Improved Collagen and Elastin Synthesis. * Accelerated Exfoliation and Cell Renewal. * Removal of the Corneocyte or " dead/horny " layer of skin to reveal a fresher, more youthful appearance. Hydroxy-Mild is the AHA of choice for sensitive skin. Can be combined with Hydroxy-Pro to create rejuvenating products for aged skin. Combine with Hydroxy-Clear to create Anti-Acne products, or peels geared toward youthful/acne prone skin. Characteristics:: LiquaPar PE is a 100% active, clear, stable, liquid blend of isopropyl, isobutyl, and n-butyl esters of para hydroxybenzoic acid with phenoxyethanol. This combination of parabens and phenoxyethanol is effective against Gram-negative and Gram- positive bacteria, yeast, and mold providing broad spectrum activity for worldwide formulations. The potentiator effect of phenoxyethanol facilitates use of the LiquaPar Oil technology in nonionic emulsion systems where paraben efficacy might otherwise be compromised. All LiquaPar PE components are approved for worldwide use thus allowing sale of the same finished formulation in Japan, Europe, Australia and the United States. These salicylates are consistently isolated at between 54.0 and 60.0% which makes NatureCide Extract an ideal preservative as well as offering a smooth feel to the skin. * PH Requirement - maintain formulation ph between 3 and 9 * Incorporation - at or below 60°C Applications: Oil in water, water in oil emulsions, body mists, toners, especially suited to your products geared toward congested, anti-aging skin and body care. This preservative functions particularly well in slightly acidic formulations, and is globally approved. Consisting of Phenoxyethanol (an aromatic ether alcohol), Sorbic Acid(a natural product that potentiates preservation) and Caprylyl Glycol (an emollient base), Optiphen PLUS offers the following benefits:: * Globally Approved. * Contains a reliable agent, sorbic acid, for anti-fungal and anti- mold activity * unlike Optiphen ND which contains benzoic acid which may be de- activated by non-ionic emulsifiers and surfactants, * unlike regular Optiphen which contains no acid * Highly effective broad spectrum antimicrobial. * Effective at pH levels below 6. * Non-formaldehyde donor. * Paraben-free. * Non-isothiazolinone. * Imparts emolliency. * Compatible with most raw materials. * Excellent safety and toxicological profile. * Heat tolerant to 176F. USP grade. Get the full details: http://www.ingredientstodiefor.com/item.php? item_id=151 Suttocide A Derived from an amino acid (Glycine), Suttocide A offers the benefits of a water soluble preservative as well as neutralizing agent for acids/acrylic polymers. Having a oH of 10-12, Suttocide can be used to raise the pH of formulations while adequately preserving them, thereby allowing the formulator to eliminate the need for the use of auxiliary alkali in the formulation. It's reasonable cost and low usage rate also make it a desirable ingredient for personal care and cosmetics. Suttocide A should be added during cool down, or cold processed. See Technical Brochure for usage rates depending on application. Citral (a component of some essential and fragrance oils) WILL react with Suttocide A and effect a color change (light pink to indian paintbrush red) in the formulation. These extracts contain several naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acids. Alpha hydroxy acids have been shown to promote smoother, younger looking skin by increasing the rate of cell renewal. Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) have been used in skin care for many years. At first, they were used mainly by dermatologists as skin peeling and moisturizing agents; cosmetic companies have since " discovered " AHAs and their almost miraculous activity and formulate with them regularly in their skin care lines. Youthful Glow is produced by taking several species of plants and running them through an exhaustive extraction process, which reduces color and odor, and concentrates the active principles.....
