Guest guest
Hello Lois, > Butch - in reading this post (I admit I'm a reader; not a poster) I > see that you said that you may be giving up your business. Only if it becomes necessary .. which might happen. > Although horrified at the prospect, I do understand. Thanks .. but please don't be horrified .. the EO sales business was around long before me and it will be around long after I'm gone. I'm not in the business to make a living .. if I depended on the business for that I'd be cheering for President Obama's Socialist agenda. ;-) These economic times are having a toll on all small businesses. I have a laundry list of customers who were retailers but no longer purchase because they could not keep their doors open, I keep a list of what each customer buys .. and a list of monthly sales .. including number of customers .. total sales .. and average cost of each sale. The number of sales has remained pretty constant .. goes up maybe 2% or 3% or so a month .. which in time translates into more labor effort required. But total sales and the average cost of sales is down big time the last 8-10 months while the cost of keeping the doors open is going up. If things do not turn around by the end of the year I will have no choice but to close the company and spend more time doing other things .. maybe even do a bit of writing. Not on EO .. probably on deer hunting or organic gardening .. or maybe I will become a political activist. ;-) > My question is - will the company still carry on and will you > remain an integral (meaning " integrity " ) part of it? No ma'am .. like a gud old soldier .. I will fade away. > There's NOBODY like you out there and although I understand, I'm > sad if you go but I also know that all good things must end. Wow .. I do appreciate those kind words. :-) But there are probably many out there who are as honest as I am .. just not as outspoken maybe. Perhaps they they operate out of their home with low or no overhead and make a fair bit of profit .. so they are wise enough to avoid stepping on toes. > BUT, it would be great to know that your company would carry on > with the same morals and integrity that it did while you were at > the helm. I agree that this would be nice and I wish it could be so. I believe that there are folks out there who have high morals and do their best to ensure that they avoid even an impression of behavior that might reflect negatively on their integrity .. but sometimes I think that maybe .. and unfortunately .. this business is similar to politics .. those who tell folks what they want to hear will always do better than those who tell it like they really think or know it is. If one wants to be a good president it would do well if they entered office with plans to serve but one term .. and if one wants to feel good about what they are doing in this business .. they gotta sometimes tell folks what they don't want to hear even if it ruins a sale. If someone can do this they will feel good about themselves but they must make sure that they are not in the business because they need the money. > Whatever you decide, we all love you.... Thank you ma'am .. you really made my day .. I am serious. :-) I will say that there is one man who has said he might want to take over my business IF I decide to close the door .. I do trust him and I know that he would not have to depend on the business for his daily bread .. he has learned a lot over the years about EO. If I do ever close the doors .. he might decide that he wants to keep them open. > Lois Caron Thank you ma'am for those kind words .. appreciated they are, Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com
