Guest guest
Hi my name is Margot. I have been lurking for as long as my membership I think because I know very little about essential oils so don't have much in that regard to share. I would like some recommendations for essential oils that might help chronic sinusitis. I find that it is aggravated when my allergies flare. I am allergic to something most of the year but not the usual grasses type allergies. Is there something I could add to my neti pot water that might help open up my sinuses or should I just use them diluted and sniff? Thank you for any help or info you can share and I do realize you are not doctors and cannot prescribe anything;-). Margot
Guest guest
Witchyspinner does your neti pot sometimes make your allergies start up? Just wondering because mine does but I still use my neti pot. I'm allergic most of the year to molds, pollen, some grass and dust. I'd like to know if there is something else I can do also? I'm taking suppliments and a multivitamin which are helping my asthma but I need help with my allergies. Which I'm looking into other suppliments and vitamins for that. Guest guest
Hey Margot, Rosemary is supposed to be excellent for sinuses and sinusitis. I would be inclined to sniff it rather than using it in a neti pot or even in a diffuser. Hope that helps a little. Guest guest
Over the years I have successfully used a mix of the following essential oils; lavender, eucalyptus globulus or eucalyptus radiata with a touch of peppermint for clients who suffer from chronic sinusitis. I have found that this effectively opens up the nasal passage ways and over time lessens the need for harsh medication. I have advised clients to add only a few drops of the formula to hot, steamy water and cover their head with a towel to make a tent around them. Sitting and breathing in the steam for 15 minutes at a time has worked well to loosen mucus, of course a regular routine is helpful. In addition, I have also created an inhaler by adding the formula to a small bottle filled with rock salt or course salt. The salt is a wonderful, all natural base that absorbs e.o.'s and can last for a long while. This can be carried with you throughout the day and inhaled as needed. Also, it is important to evaluate all of the chemicals and cleaning products used in your home environment. This can often be overlooked and wreak havoc making a bad situation even worse. Getting fresh air is imperative and research shows that indoor air is often more polluted than outdoors. I hope that this information is helpful.
