Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, After your emails I just had to go looking lol. I am sure you have already seen these but thought I would post them anyway. http://tinyurl.com/dz2p53 And there are 10 here (with your Camel Spider included) http://tinyurl.com/36s6ap But for me, if I bumped into this it would really freak me out http://tinyurl.com/c8glfq What a subject lol Virginia West Aussie A friend of mine and I had an ugliest bug contest. Trivial, childish but true. He shot me a picture of an earwig. I shot him a picture of a dust mite. Point 1 to me. He shot me a picture of a head louse. UGLY. Guest guest
hey Virginia Those pictures were great. That Assassin bug was UGLY. As for Tarantulas, after rescuing one from my big strong he-man neighbor (who was screaming like a girl and was afraid to go anywhere near it), I'm not so afraid of them anymore, and that blue green metalica one was actually kind of pretty. doesn't mean to say they don't still give me the creeps, but after holding it, in my hand, I could deal with them... But the running up the arm bit that was freaky. That's when I found out that Tarantulas actually had claws. And they are sharp little boogers. Most of those bugs I was vaguely familiar with. It helps to have two girls who have been fascinated with all things creepy and crawly. The bugs have been on my tv screen many times. Interestingly enough, boys were never all that interested. I have weird girls, but then the nut doesn't fall far from the tree. ;-) Thanks again for the links, they were fun to look at! ;-) > > > -- Kathleen Petrides Bead Hussy http://www.BeadHussy.com
Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, No thanks to you for sparking my interest in the first place. I must admit I have a bit of a soft spot for spiders (I am always amazed at their webs and wonder at the work that goes into them) and hate it when people see one and insist on killing them. Red backs are very common here but I don't kill them unless I have to. http://tinyurl.com/dxztkz Daddy long legs I quite like http://tinyurl.com/dyqxj7 Here are some more pics of Aussie spiders - some of them are very pretty. http://tinyurl.com/dwqhu So do you tease the he-man lol. I think that is so funny, and you are very brave - tarantulas with claws. Yep I have weird kids too but blame the ex - who always blamed me. When they were in trouble he would say " do you know what your children have done " Typical huh. Virginia West Aussie hey Virginia Those pictures were great. That Assassin bug was UGLY. Guest guest
I too have a soft spot for spiders and bugs also. Everytime I get a spider or bug in the house in the summer I go get my bug container (which is label bugs, so no one throws it out) and catch it and let it back outside. If my husband gets to it before I do then he will kill it. I don't see the point in killing it unless you have no choice. I also take photos of bugs which last year I entered into a photo contest through Nation Wildlife Mag. I was bummed when I didn't win but there's always this year... Guest guest
after looking at them, I can see why you won !! Paula ...... in Michigan www.farmfreshsoapsandcandles.com A friend of mine and I had an ugliest bug contest. Trivial, childish but true. He shot me a picture of an earwig. I shot him a picture of a dust mite. Point 1 to me. He shot me a picture of a head louse. UGLY. I was NOT going to lose. Went to google and typed in " Ugliest bug in the world " . On the page of several bugs I found the winner. If you want the heebie jeebies, look up Camel Spider. They are found in Iraq and while not venomous they WILL take a huge chunk out of one if they feel threatend. On a government website, it claimed some concern as soldiers were coming back home and unintendingly bring some of these ugly puppies home with them. Oh. My friend called " Uncle " and proclaimed me the winner. Go check it out and you'll see why. for those of you who are as lazy as I am, here's a couple of links: http://www.camelspiders.net/large-camel-spider-picture.htm http://www.camelspiders.net/spiderpictures.htm -- Kathleen Petrides Bead Hussy http://www.BeadHussy.com
