Guest guest
I didn't use EOs in this. Actually, I found the formula - It is from Donna Maria, but I guess maybe it is from her web site????? I had printed it out. Anyaways this requires Xanthum gum. Now, I'm sure I have some in my toiletyry stash, but being in a hurry, I can't find it. Is there anything that can be substituted. Also, Jan (love your name!) I will suggest the browned flour. Can zinc oxide be used plain? Jan G On Mar 7, 2009, at 9:43 AM, Jan S wrote: > Jan, > I think 2 weeks old is a bit young for EO's. Guest guest
Hi Jan, Name is really nice! We used plain zinc oxide. his little bum was white a s snow after applying. It is very thick and will prevent urine from getting to the rash. It make a great barrier and is fragrance free. HTH, Jan S PS DGS mother had some other ointment, did not work. She used this for her 2 boys in diapers at the same time. NEW E-MAIL ADDY sweetprairie1 May your troubles be less, your blessings be more and nothing but happiness come through your door! Guest guest
Hey..., You may not want to put zinc oxide on such tender skin. Yes...it does work, but there is a better alternative!!! Go to your local whole foods /health food store (or find an African/Carribean grocery store) and ask for pure shea butter. It's usually sold in 1 lb containers and is yellow in color (suggesting palm kernel oil has been added to stretch it).. pure shea butter is an off white color. This has been used for centuries by African mothers.. I used it on my granddaughter...after she had been " bathed " in zinc oxide. Zinc oxide does not allow the skin to properly breathe...shea butter does. Reverend George J. Guest guest
Hi Jan, I think zinc oxide is not as safe as we used to think . . . Now considered carcinogenic linked to developmental and reproductive toxicity and immune system harm. The Environmental Working Group has good information here http://tinyurl.com/cl3mow I agree it DID WORK to clear diaper rashes, but perhaps not the best choice. Guest guest
Oh, thank you so very much. Just went down to see him this afternoon. His little bottom is so sore - it is even bleeding! I made the cream by Donna Maria (Tiny Hiny Cream). I'm going to take her some zinc oxide and browned flour next week. We'll be gone all tomorrow to the christening of DH's niece's triplets! Thanks, Jan, for all your help! Jan G in MI On Mar 7, 2009, at 1:23 PM, Jan S wrote: > Hi Jan, > Name is really nice! We used plain zinc oxide. his little bum was > white > a s snow after applying. Guest guest
My baby also has major diaper rash issues (to the point of bleeding). I discovered Equinox Botanicals' The Golden Salve and it's by far the best thing I have found. I've tried redmond clay, Burt's Bees ointment, EO's, and about a million other things, but The Golden Salve is the best stuff I've found by FAR. It's also great for burns, cuts, eczema, and any othes skin condition you can think of. I absolutely recommend it!
