We were in Turkey when Alexander was born .. Rose and Lavender Hydrosols were no cost to me then and we used them on him almost daily. Many is the bath he took with 50% pure water and 50% Rose Hydrosol. He learned to love baths from birth and now thinks its a real fun thing. And he learned to love Extra Virgin Olive Oil early on .. Tanya often used it on his skin. I knew some ladies who never used soap on their faces .. only Extra-Virgin Olive Oil. There are some other Turkish Koca Kara (Village Wife) treatments as well as some traditional Russian treatments for infant's skin that I dare not mention here because we have become accustomed to believing the tales of woe put out by the scientific community and I would probably receive criticism for having used them .. but I'll mention one. ;-) A liquid that (according to my best Russian dictionary) is a form of magnesium. Tanya's mother arrived from Russia the day after Alexander was born and brought some ... made the bath water reddish brown. It concerned me a bit so I took a sample to her doctor, who was trained in Germany and the U.S.A. He knew what it was and said it was harmless though he was not certain it would help. My MIL said the Russian dictionary did not properly explain what it was .. which should be no surprise because Russian is a tough language. Even the White House and State Department had problems translating the message on the little toy Clinton gave to the Russian Foreign Minister. ;-) Access to free Hydrosols, very inexpensive but high quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Olives, Cheeses, Pastries and Breads are a few of the MANY good things I miss about Turkey .. there are many other things too but there were many things I always missed about the Suthran U.S.A. Shame we can't create a composite place to live .. one that has the best of many countries but leaves out the downsides of all of them. ;-) > Be Well, > Marcia Elston, Samara Botane/Nature Intelligence > http://www.wingedseed.com > http://www.aromaconnection.org > Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com <http://www.av-at.com/> > I have used beeswax salve for clients in the past with babies who have > diaper rash.
