Guest guest
Morning Colleen, Yes, I did have Frozen Shoulder as proved by an ultra-sound and my Acupuncturist (a very cautious Chinese GP). I could massage my clients as most of the techniques are of a downward motion. When I finished my client was seated and I was working on an upward motion I took a deep breathe and kept going. I also had to take a breathe when I took my table out of the boot of my car. I used my own blends as analgesic/anti-inflammatory as I dislike 'over-the-counter' products. Initially they didn't work effectively as I was not solving the problem. What I first thought I had was a Rotator-cuff injury and treated it accordingly. I was wrong and researched the symptoms and had them confirmed. From the time I realised there was a problem with the shoulder to the time I took off on a round-the-world trip was about 6 months. I saw the GP twice a week and my Chiropractor weekly (at that time). At the GP the needle went into the joint (not comfortable) with electrodes stimulating the process. My Chiroptractor uses Applied Kinesiology in his practice and me doing my thing fixed the FS. However, as with tendonitis of the brachio-radialus (which I had some 20 years ago) I will always have a weakness which I will have to keep in mind. As for massage, yes I did go my massage therapist who hadn't had to treat this problem as most of his clients seem to like Sports Massage (not my thing at all as I don't believe in 'no pain, no gain'.) He was told in no uncertain terms that he was not to pressure the muscles into submission. He does use some Trigger Point (as I do), but that was too painful for me to handle - I had to drive home afterwards and driving was difficult. I'm somewhat pig-headed and once I have had the problem diagnosed I expect the treatment to work and I won't take 'No' for an answer. Both my GP and Chiro seem to have the same attitude. So, to sum up... If you have FS get it confirmed as soon as possible, use your favourite analgesic/anti-inflammatory oils, a poultice and accupuncture (or trigger therapy, if that works for you) and just don't suffer.
