Guest guest
BTW, Butch, " RTFM " means Read The Fine Manual and is a frustration response to a newbie who has asked a common question without having first tried to inform himself. I don't mind being told to RTFM so long as I'm pointed towards the manual I ought to have read. My definition of naive is one who doesn't know that he doesn't know. The more I learn, the more I learn I have more to learn. Thanks again for your time. dd
Guest guest
So does this mean that if using the ingredients listed, you are ok? Do you still have to register a bug repellant? - Rachel Markel Wednesday, April 29, 2009 11:32 PM Re: Labeling of Essential oils - why they are labeled for External Use What can happen if you make a bug repellant spray with E.O.'s?--Lorie (Don't make any Pesticide claim either or you'll be under the jurisdiction of the EPA!!) --Penny I wanted to address the question about the bug repellant. While it is true that you should not be making any claims there are some exemptions to this rule. The EPA has a list of ingredients entitled FIFRA " 25B' here you will find an array of raw materials that have probably been used for ever by farmers as pesticides, insecticides and herbicides. As long as you formulate your product off of this list the ingredients are exempt at the federal level from regulation and testing. You still have to register your product in any state where you intend to market or sell though. You can access the list at my website in the knowledge base- https://ingredientmanager.eoilcolab.com/kb_results.asp?cat=5 If you pay attention to products in the market there are several who are selling their brand because of this loophole.
