Guest guest
Howdy y'all, It is not enough that we remember our folks in uniform on Memorial Day and Veterans Day or some other special holiday .. I can guarantee that they are waiting and hoping to be remembered every day. 15 year old Lizzie Palmer created this short video in 2006 as a school project. I did not see it when it came out and probably some of you also missed it. Presenting it here now is not intended to make people sad but it might do that. My intent in posting it is to remind all of us of the need to communicate with our loved ones and friends who are serving in uniform .. under any flag. http://kmwithjeanne.wordpress.com/2007/11/13/remember-me-by-lizzie-palmer/ When I was going through basic in 1960, and especially during my first tour in the " Nam in 1963, there was no I-Net .. Mail Call was the most important event in the week. Every troop in uniform would walk away from Mail Call feeling high as a kite .. or lower than whale dung. E-mail is fine (I reckon) but there is nothing like being able to keep a crumpled letter in your pocket and read it over and over when you are tired or bored .. or after a fire fight. I highly recommend that we all take the time to write to those who are important to us .. the result of us doing this will likely be the most important event of the week for the recipient of our letter. I understand that this message might not be favorably received by all. There are folks who project their dislike of war on the individual soldier. Just last week here in Paris, TN some misinformed knuckle head wrote a letter to the editor of our newspaper complaining about the military starting wars. Obviously, Knuckle Head did not have a good understanding of the system .. in my life time no war has been started by the U.S. Armed Forces .. wars are started by politicians and are usually the result of failed (sometimes impossible) diplomatic efforts. An example of such a disgruntled Knuckle Head comment is below .. from UTube. That the writer can not correctly spell his own moniker tells me that he is not all that intelligent in the first place. ;-) Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch Comment: Thanks to all of you who helped expose the neocon war propaganda site " remember me " by Lizzie Palmer. Please do NOT blame Lizzie because she was duped into unknowingly aiding a group of hateful war monger " moms " who used unethical techniques to control her web site. - hippietreehuger Comment: This is NOT propaganda. It's a video that Lizzie Palmer (a 15 year old high school student) put together to HONOR our troops. Hippietreehugger has been spamming her YouTube comments with some very crass and crude words. Then he tracked down people who have posted her video on their blog and posted the same comment as above. She wants to join the military which you find offensive. If you want to produce your own anti-war propaganda do so, but please leave people like Lizzie alone. This is a free and democratic country we live in. If she chooses to commemorate those who are fighting for our freedom, let her. - Incognito
