Evening all,

Since I started using my own soap (super-fatted at 5%) I no longer get dry scalp

or dandruff.  I tend to use Olive or Macadamia oils so my soaps are 'simple'.

However, making a soap with olive, coconut, rice bran and macadamia should give

you a reasonably good shampoo bar.

I haven't bought shampoo or conditioner for years and anytime I travel and use

the stuff supplied in hotels I return to dry scalp and dandruff until I can get

my good stuff.

Regards

Merinda

Yup we use our bars too if I run out of liquid. I've gotten to where I formulate

most soaps to also wash hair, be gentle and even with clay they work very

well....in fact...I'll use a blend of kaolin/bentonite clay, non alcohol witch

hazel in a shampoo bar and will add a little castor as well. No problem. For

greasy hair the clay is a stabilizer and for thin hair its a body builder and

does NOT reduce shine what so ever. I also add silk or another protein. Usually

always silk tho.

For those with ethnic hair castor, silk, and one of the 'cones' works very well

for both hair and skin.

I'm working on one now with yucca, mimosa bark, nettle and calendula to which

I'll add silk, castor, a splash of hydrovance and the dimethecone/cyclomethicone

blend. I did an experimental aka trial batch for some friends of mine and they

are ecstatic. They work in health food stores and they know what the 'cones' are

but when it comes to processed hair and extremely dry skin, and recurring

ashiness they really prefer this than to buy ethnic hair care and skin care

products from the market. I dont use much so its more synergistic on the things

that are not quite as natural.....no dandruff and this also btw works very well

for life guards...
