Guest guest
Since the topic of myrrh oil and receding gums came up I wanted to add something else about myrrh. I get chronic cold sores, some from being sick and some from just being out in the sun. I have gotten them since I was a kid. I tried tea tree since that is what is often recommended for cold sores but I found that tea tree only reduced the outbreak time but didn't seem to eliminate the cold sores or prevent them. It still blistered and scabbed pretty good, but not for as long. Since myrrh is used in mouth care I decided to try it for cold sores. At the first sign of the cold sore I dabbed on a blend I have of 80% grapeseed, 20% myrrh. I did this twice a day. The cold sore never came to a full blister and only a small scab appeared. Once the scab appeared I stopped using the myrrh and just tried to keep it moisturized on and off throughout the day so it wouldn't dry and crack. After a few days of light scabbing it was gone. This works so much better than anything I've ever used.
Guest guest
I don't think I've ever had a cold sore - but I do get canker sores, in my mouth. I have my mother take L Lysine for her cold sores, though. Seems to speed up the healing - I'm not with her so can't vouch for the exact time frame.
