*Over the years I have offered many buys of Turkish Rose Otto and Rose

Absolute .. the last Bulk Sales Order I offered was in August 2008 .. folks

bought a lot then and as always everyone who purchased was satisfied .. it

will be no different this time.

 

This year I was able to make a contract a bit earlier than last year.

Making a contract at all is something to crow about because in some years

past I was not able to get all that we needed .. the supply did not cover

the demand**.**

in the years I have made these offers I learned which questions would be

asked and I am trying to answer them before they are asked. If you are

interested in Rose Otto then read on .. if you are not .. you can use your

time more wisely be deleting this message now. ;-)

 

Those who have known me since 1995 know that if I say I have a quality Rose

product .. I have a quality Rose product! The 2009 crop of Turkish Rose

Otto is as fine as was the 2008 crop .. which was outstanding .. so I am

able to report that the 2009 crop/production is a quality product!

 

AN IMPORTANT NOTE HERE: This sale is for Hydro-Steam Distilled Oil (Rose

Otto) .. NOT .. Solvent Extracted Rose Absolute! Later this year I will

have the annual Rose Absolute sale.

 

The 2009 Rose crop yield was roughly 25% lower than last year .. due to

Global Cooling ;-) and bulk prices went up a bit over 8% .. but my

supplier decided to produce more Rose Otto than Rose Absolute this year ..

and after some negotiating I am locked in and committed for 20 kilos.

 

Even if the crop yield had been the same as in past few years it would still

have been a reduced amount. In 2007 and 2008, in both Turkey and Bulgaria,

there was less Rose Otto produced than in previous years. This was due to

a number of factors .. climate being but one. Large scale conversion of

farm land to residential use in Turkey and the change in demographics (labor

wise) in Bulgaria are two more reasons. What can be expected is that

again this year there will be a shortage of Bulk Rose Otto .. so folks who

delay will either get none or they will be forced to later purchase

remaining stocks in smaller volume for higher prices.

 

This Turkish Rose Otto is from the same producer I have used for the last 5

years .. since 2005. Prior to that time I purchased from a different

producer. There is no difference in the quality of Rose Otto produced by

the two producers but my previous supplier has become politicized to a

degree that makes me feel less than comfortable. Government involvement

(aside from quality control) in the private sector turns me off.

 

Back to good news .. my bulk purchase cost has increased but the prices I

offer now are roughly the same I offered last year .. I am eating the lion's

share of the difference and I hope to make up for it in volume.

 

However, this pricing places me in a position of considerable risk because

my contract is in Euro .. not U.S. Dollars. This has the potential to make

this sale (for me) a wash .. and for the larger sizes .. a loss .. if I

extend it .. so I CAN NOT extend it.

 

I suppose that most people know the reasons why the U.S. Dollar is weakening

on the international market .. and likely it is that it will weaken even

more depending on some U.S. political actions that may or may not be passed

in the next few weeks.

 

Point is .. for some time now the Dollar to Euro exchange rate has continued

to fluctuate greatly .. DOWNWARD.

 

05 Mar 2009 .... One Euro was $1.2555 U.S. Dollars

05 Apr 2009 .... One Euro was $1.3273 U.S. Dollars

05 May 2009 ... One Euro was $1.3403 U.S. Dollars

05 June 2009 .. One Euro was $1.4095 U.S. Dollars

05 July 2009 ... One Euro was $1.4097 U.S. Dollars

*Today .. 21 July 2009 .. One Euro is $1.4223 U.S. Dollars.

 

On 5 March 09 we could purchase 1 Euro for $1.26 .. today we must pay $1.42

to purchase 1 Euro .. this 13% decline in the value of one U.S. $ adds up

BIG TIME when we purchase tens of thousands of Euro. Even an increase as

small as 1% can have a very negative impact on one's profit margin.

 

I expect .. even fear .. that the U.S. $ will be devalued even more prior

to me making my final order on Monday, 3 August 2009.

 

I am not normally a gambler but in this business one often has no choice but

to gamble. This may be the LAST Bulk Rose Otto buy I offer. Present

economic conditions dictate a need for new strategies in marketing ... my

plan for this sale and everyday pricing is to reduce our profit margin and

double our volume of sales. If it works its a win-win situation ... if it

does not work then by the end of the year I plan to do what I should have

done long ago ... close the doors and do more fishing. ;-)

 

I'm not in this business to make a living ... if I was then I (and most

other EO dealers) would be in the soup line. I'm in it because I like it

and I see the current economic situation as being a challenge to see if we

can survive ... maybe even thrive ... despite the efforts of the Wall Street

barons, bankers and greedy politicians from both sides of the isle who

blindly and mindlessly vote on bills they have not read.

 

I am more than confident in the fairness of my prices and I am 100% certain

that the Quality and Purity of my Rose products might be matched by other

sellers ... but not exceeded ... one can not exceed perfection.

 

How can I offer Rose Otto for less now? Its simple .. the fixed costs of

export are the same for 1 gram or 1 metric ton of any product. For Rose

Otto .. the costs for transportation, processing and duties in the U.S.A.

and forward shipment to my company in Maryland do not increase all that much

based on volume. If one wants to purchase a kilo of Rose Otto after this

sale, those costs would necessarily be included in the cost of that ONE

kilo.

 

So .. those who intend to purchase Rose Otto have a number of options ..

 

(1) You can buy a lower quality ... lower priced Rose Otto .. like Russian.

Caveat Emptor!

(2) You can buy a lower quality ... higher priced Rose Otto .. like Chinese

or Indian.

(3) You can buy an equal quality .. higher priced Rose Otto .. like

Bulgarian.

(4) You can do without Rose Otto now .. and in the future .. if .. you are

waiting for lower prices.

(5) You can buy from me now! ;-)

 

If one can find better quality for a lower price than what I am offering

below .. they would be foolish if they did not buy it .. if one can't (and I

know one can't) then let me know and get on the buyer's list.
