Guest guest
I am sorry about the spelling Sativa when I meant to write salvia. I have Macular Degeneration and my eyesight is very poor and I do make a lot of mistakes but this looks like what grows along the roadsides here in NC and is called (according to my field guide) Cardinal Flower. The fact that things are called by so many different names according to the region you live in is what makes it hard sometimes to correctly identify a plant or herb Doris butchowen writes: > I believe it is a member of the sage {sativa} family. But .. for the record .. Sage is in the Family Lamiaceae. The Genus is Salvia and then there are around 900 or so members of the Species. Like Common Sage (Salvia officinalis) Kingdom ..... Plantae Order ........ Lamiales Family ....... Lamiaceae Genus ....... Salvia Species ...... Officinalis I mention this simply to point out the need for the new folks to demand to know the Genus and Species .. and the Origin .. of any EO they purchase. Some species of a genus might be worth $25 a pound while others might be worth $125 a pound. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch ... http://www.av-at.com/
Guest guest
Fireweed? No way!!! Fireweed grows abundantly around here and has long since gone to seed. It is also tall, and a more rosy/ purply colour. I suspect it is a variety of Penstemon but am not sure. Ien in the Kootenays, a good day from Bead Hussy http://freegreenliving.com
