Guest guest
Hey everyone Just got a fairly rude email from someone I recognize from either this list or atfe. I'm not going to publish her name to spare her blushes and to some extent my own. I have to confess I got a littled pissed in return. At anyrate, one of her myriad of complaints was that I have dead links. Which I have no doubt is true. If, when you're trolling around Aromatic sage and you find one, can you let me know what it is please. Some links are gone forever. I try to contact the original author to see if they still have it, but if they don't, I can't fix the link. Also, I'm still using front page 2000 or something like that. anyone know of a good web authoring program for morons? At some point I'm going to have to update and it would be nice to have some idea of what to look for. Gotta run, family is impatient. TIA for your help. -- Kathleen Petrides Bead Hussy http://www.BeadHussy.com
Guest guest
Hi Kathleen and everyone, I am a DIY website owner - www.cocoonapothecary.com - because I am all that I can afford! I started with Frontpage but learned a couple of years ago that it was an obsolete program so I knew I had to learn something else to keep up with things. Fortunately, I worked at a magazine where they were kind enough to let me load the office's Adobe Creative Suite and I have never looked back. Dreamweaver is the web design program within this package. It's a beast to learn because Adobe has its own way of doing things that isn't like Microsoft but once you've learned it, anything is possible. It would have been really smart of me to take a couple basic courses before diving in but I have managed to learn some great things on my own. I also use Photoshop and Illustrator which are just fabulous for creating your own graphics. If you're going to take on your own website design and updating, learn these programs. I had a couple comments about Beadhussy: - when I think of the name Beadhussy, I think of an Etsy.com business. Something funky and sassy with a sexy retro-look. I think a vintage-inspired pin-up girl would look really great on your site, logo etc. - your blog could be more interactive with all of the bells and whistles such as archives, comments, and search engine optimization with a free blog platform such as Wordpress.com or Blogger.com. Good luck! Guest guest
Thanks Jessica I appreciate your comments and will get back to this email again later. But one Issue I wanted to address real quick. Would love to make Beadhussy more interactive, however I have found that whenever I have a guestbook or discussion group, I quickly get spammed by casinos, penis stretchers, you name it. I would have to password encrypt it and that sort of defeats the purpose. >sigh< K On Sat, Sep 12, 2009 at 3:05 PM, Cocoon Apothecary < jessica wrote: > > > -- Kathleen Petrides Bead Hussy http://www.BeadHussy.com
