I give my boys a chewable called Mighty Smart; it's orange flavored, and kind of like a starburst without the junk. Good luck this year, Laura Laura Campbell-Lui 917-767-3579 Hi group & all! Is there a natural stimulant instead of Ritalin? I am an educator, and I find parents looking for solutions. Perhaps aromatherapy can do the same job as the pill (Ritalin). Or herbs? What do you suggest? shaul
Guest guest
This is usually due to heart heat, possibly due to wind or phlegm. In Chinese medicine, the heart contains the mind. There are many points and herbs to treat this sort of thing. - " Ieneke van Houten " <ienvan Thursday, September 17, 2009 9:45 PM Re: adhd >I will leave the oils part to the knowledgeable members on > this list. Good luck this year, Laura Nutrition is a huge part of the puzzle, and it is the one I am most familiar with.. Avoid food additives like the poison that they are. Cook from scratch. It is not rocket science. Good tips can be found at these sites: http://whfoods.org Regulating blood sugar levels is a great start. A brain on empty cannot think. Laura mentioned starting the day with a protein-rich shake, yes, great idea. Omega fatty acids, also vital. Then there are all the minerals and trace minerals. Lack of magnesium is common, so is lack of zinc. There is excellent reading about the nutrition/brain link in this book: " The Crazy Makers, How the food industry is destroying our brains and harming our children " . by Carol Simontacchi. There is more....but my attention is wavering.
Guest guest
One expert on the mind/body connection is Dr. Phil Bate. He is a clinical psychologist who became interested first in nutrition and allergies, then in bio-feedback. He pioneered a form of brain training that happens while you sleep and is way cheaper than going to a lab for sessions. It seems to WORK. Tons of information, including an e-book that used to cost money and was worth it, on his website http://drbate.com. He is also having a CD sale, here is the post he did on his group. Dr Bate just turned 80, and is not in it for the money. This is his life's work. Great man. Hi All, As some of you know, BHT has had several different CD packages that have evolved over the years. Some that work to solve ADD/ADHD and to improve the Autism Spectrum, as well as others that solve many other mental problems. From all the research, it seems that my original (2000) theory of " raising the SMR brain wave _/somehow/_ changes the affect of allergens on the brain " , is correct (effectively curing the allergy stress on the patient). Since allergy stress even if unknown to the sufferer is a major cause of many mental and physical problems, this is the primary reason why both Neuroliminal Training and Neurofeedback (aka EEG biofeedback) works so well with so many different problems. My original interest in EEG BF was with it's use in ADD/ADHD and autism. There are three CD packages that have evolved: 1. The original ADD/ADHD CD. This was invented in 2004, and was made with a " rain sound " overlay. It just raised the SMR brain wave, and lowered the Theta brain wave, but it worked well for most people with reports of 85-90% cure rate for ADD/ADHD diagnosed cases. From all tests, this new therapy named Neuroliminal Training does exactly the same things that are done by Neurofeedback or EEG Biofeedback, but at a fraction of those prices. 2. In 2005/6, the overlay was changed to the sound of surf. This seemed to be better liked by most people, although it didn't seem to improve the rate of success still at 85-90%. (Same as NFB or EEG BF.) 3. In 20006/7, the subliminal message to increase blood flow in the brain was added, and the CD package was re-named ADD-Autism. Tested in 2007, it showed definite improvement in all autism cases tested within 60 days, and literally cured all ADD/ADHD correctly diagnosed. Each of these variations were purchased in bulk after testing, and so the above history has caused us to have a definite surplus of these older CD packages. Of course, we " push " the newest (ADD-Autism), and would like to only use that for all persons on the ADD-Autism continuum. In addition, because NASA found that lowering the Theta brain wave also seemed to lower the artistic or creative ability of some persons, the SMR Trainer was invented in 2005. Why affect artistic or creative ability if there is no " attention " problem as found in the ADD-Autism continuum? People with insomnia or depression or anxiety or epilepsy do not need or want to lose this. 1. This original CD also used the " rain sound " as an overlay, and only worked to raise the SMR brain wave. This is recommended in all other mental problems that do not have the " Attention " problem. This does not affect the Theta brain wave or creativity at all. 2. The next generation used the " surf sound overlay, and added the increase in brain blood flow, and was named the SMR Plus CD package. 3. In 2009, Weight loss was added to the SMR Plus CD. If a person is not overweight, they should order the SMR Plus CD, but if overweight, they should order the Lose Weight SMR Plus CD package. That's the history. It has left us with several hundred of the outdated CD packages that are still perfectly good. Accordingly, we are offering these earlier CD packages at the following prices. The original ADD/ADHD and SMR Trainer CD packages are offered to anyone on this list at the following prices: For anyone who can show poverty, (food stamps, Medicare, etc), the cost is $7.00 (Free except for shipping). For general public, the cost is $27 for either of the above. The second generation of ADD/ADHD as described above the cost is $47. This is recommended for those cases of ADD/ADHD with no brain damage as in Autism. --- BTW, Sales are increasing on the Lose Weight SMR Plus CD package, and the testimonials are increasing. The original volunteer test showed over 85% losing at least a pound a day without going on a diet, or doing more exercise. And, that's in addition to many reports of lowered anxiety, depression, insomnia, as well. It's really amazing just what 'unknown " allergy can do to the brain. -- Phil Bate PhD http://drbate.com - Free Alternate Health Advice Neuroliminal Training (NT) helps solve mental problems without drugs at low cost.
