Guest guest
Hi everyone, Not exactly new here, but I haven't been on this group for long. I have at least one question and realize it or they, might be found in the files. In any case. Here goes nothing. I am on Warfarin as a blood thinner for clotting in my legs and lungs. Lately, while it doesn't directly affect me badly. Even taking 1mg tabs. I still get bleeding hemorrhoids. The doc is aware of this. BTW, the effects of the Warfarin on my bleeding hemorrhoids, happens one to two days after starting back up on the Warmarin. My doc has told me to stop taking the Warfarin for a few days, if there is any blood loss down there. However, it always comes back. Even if I've been off the Warfarin for several days, to try and get the bleeding hemorrhoids to heal again. This does seem to be getting worse. I have had two Colonoscopies in the last two years. So that can also be eliminated. It is also bright red in color. Which leaves out stomach bleeding. In any case, I've also had two Endoscopies in the same two year time span, to check on stomach problems. He is also aware that I tried Oil of Cloves about 2 years ago. My BP/INR levels were at the 1.0 level. The doc wants them between 2.0-3.0, for best effect on me. Increasing the Oil of Cloves won't help, as I'm sure most of you know. As it will supposedly never give you too much or too little. Anyway, these bleeding hemorrhoids are messing with my life. The docs and maybe insurance company says " no operation " . I won't get rid of the insurance or the doc. So anyway, is there anything else out there, that might be substituted for Oil of Cloves as an anti clotting alternative med? Yes, I know that most, if not all of you, aren't medical doctors. So just say what you would do in the above situation, should cover any legalities. I am a consenting adult of 59+ years now and am very aware of my medical problems. I just want more alternatives here. Now, I will go to the files and search again, for something that might help. Thanks all, Bill

Also used as rat poison, because rats can't manufacture vitamin K, which is the antidote... I had a stroke in Dec of 07...it was a clot type... The docs have put me on an aspirin regimen (81mg a day) to slow clots... Happens to be the dosage of the orange flavor kiddie stuff.... Note: This is a lesser anti-clot effect then warfarin... If yer gonna try something else, do *consult with yer doc*....Clots floating around in yer system is serious stuff.... Also, ya can minimize the occurrence of the hemorrhoids by increasing the amount of fiber in your diet...Makes it easier to do the job, so to speak... Care.... -- Gary W. Guest guest
Good info. I know many eo's have salicylates which is not good . Here is where I get nervous. I know that most people here have proper knowledge of essential oils and the properties there of. many people will mix up a blend of oils meant for pain reduction but never have I seen anyone who works in a healthfood store, is in a MLM herbal/supplemental area ever ask someone if they are on blood thinners and some people will use very powerful essential oils for chronic pain and in doing so, those on blood thinners are at risk because they use it more often. So several sources are good to have on hand. You want to have several books by known practioners and those books should have cautions listed with the complete chemical breakdown of the oil . Wasn't it about two years ago that high school girl died from using aspirin by mouth and also applying muscle warmers high in salicylates and frankly she died from an over dose of what was meant to make her able to run and compete . She simply was wanting to use preventative measures which I can understand but she simply didn't know about the absorption of that ingredient. New Age Herbalist in not a bad book to have. They do have cautions and I dont know if its been updated but if not, buy that and another good source of info and if you can't afford those....go to alibris.com and you can buy good books , they are used but hey, its the knowledge in side of those books, I dont care if someone highlited anything or wrote in the margin but I got some great books for as low as 1.99. You can contact the seller and ask the shipping price. I think I'll make a post on this. Evie
