Guest guest
I felt this important enough to post because when the 2008 Globalization act is activated seriously we are going to have to adhere to some very rigid regulations. My concern is somebody who simply 'googles' a recipe for home made pain balms and they dont know what they are using...they may know the name but they dont know the properties. This cannot be said enough..know what properties are in the herbs you use . Two ways this is win win. One you dont make a product that could very well OD by using that pain balm someone made 2. This can save you money . often I see balms with an infinite amount of ingredients and in quite a few cases its replication of the same properties. So why use four oils/herbs that actually have the same active compounds when you can use one. k, so now I'm 'getting'.... " But its called Synergy " , together they work better'. In some cases thats accurate and in many its over kill on steroids. 3. knowing your blends by researching the active properties, where it comes from and how it was raised...will make you a better herbalist and you might just go ahead and work for a certificate down the road once have some time under your belt and you can best formulate a product that will work better using less herbs and oils. I've seen some blends that simply were a waste of perfectly good herbs and oils . This will keep costs down. So if you are going to suggest something, legally we cant but we all know we have done it....at least ask 'what are you allergic to, are you on medications and if so ,what , do you have high blood pressure or a thyroid problem'....a simple list of questions to your customer will help THEM choose what they want and not what anyone recommends and in the meantime look at meds and the nutrients that are depleted with some meds, illnesses etc..this really will help you retain the info and I did it backwards. I went to the lists of herbs and oils with cautions . Took me 25 years or better to 'learn' and I'm still learning....we will never know it all . But think about it. Be safe and try to keep those oils from your skin at full strength. The skin is the largest organ of the body and it does absorb. Dont you find it funny that its said that facial creams dont work, its like pouring oil ON a car and not in it....and yet chemicals...one of the first things the list on the label? Do not apply full strength , isn't that like a total contradiction? So, those oils and creams we make DONT make your skin better but dont expose the skin because you could absorb the oil...ruh? Sorry for the length i'll not do this again. I'm simply OCD when it comes to blending and such and I know some of you are because you've emailed me LOL! And I think we need to check on some alteranatives with properties we need once this ACT comes into play..we wont have the choices we have now. evie
