Cripple Creek http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cripple_Creek,_Colorado is probably

the most active Ghost Town in Colorado. When my dad retired after 32 years in

the U.S. Army, he went into the real estate business in Colorado Springs. A

silver tongue devil he was so he did well .. but his main interest was antiques

and clocks .. so he also opened a shop in the the busy tourist trap of Cripple

Creek. Weekends he let a University of Colorado professor carve wooden Indians

in the front window .. which brought in a lotta customers.

The professor had his art sold before he could even finish it so they had a

symbiotic relationship.

Folks who visit that area should go to Cripple Creek .. one of the old saloons

(Blood N' Guts I think) takes folks down the steps inside the saloon .. into a

gold mine .. and they give folks a piece of ore that contains some gold.

On water witching .. or dowsing .. there is a lot of controversy .. but there is

also a lot of disagreement in all of the disciplines in science. I personally

believe that witching is not only possible but it is logical. Lots of folks

I've known have done it in areas in Kentucky where finding shallow ground water

was tough. Here in Henry County, TN you can drill most anywhere and find water

cause we're sitting on a monstrous aquifer .. my well pumped solid back in the

summer of 2007 when we went 2 + months without rain.

Martin Watt visited me in Turkey in the summer of 2000 ..

http://www.aromamedical.com/articles/rosedistillation.htm .. and one of the

places I took him to see was Gordion (Yassihoyuk in Turkish) outside of Ankara

... the Phrygian Kingdom of King Midas and where Alexander The Great was said to

have cut the famous Gordion Knot ..

http://archaeology.about.com/od/gterms/g/gordion.htm .. and ..

http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/go/CentralAnatolia/Gordion/index.html .. At

that location is the largest tumulus in Turkey .. the Tomb of King Midas .. it

is built over a natural Earth energy center and this fact is recognized and

accepted by the scientists. I did not tell Martin this .. but when we were

walking up the long path to the tomb he suddenly stopped and told me that we

were in an energy zone .. blew my mind that did.

Back at the ranch .. on witching .. the Missouri Department of Natural Resources

says Show Me ...

http://www.dnr.mo.gov/pubs/pub657.pdf

But Dr. Strobel .. from the U.S. Geological Survey . .says there is strong

evidence that humans can detect changes in an electromagnetic field. He goes

on to say that .. " So, most scientists do not believe dowsing is valid. But

there is much we don't understand about the world and about the human body (if

we understood it all, us scientists would be out of jobs), so to discount

dowsing entirely at this point would be premature and additional research would

help answer many questions. "

Sad story....a friend and I had a chance pre gambling Cripple Creek to buy an

old building that had a bar....her spouse played on weekends...said 'nope, took

too much money to renovate this one'......that building sold less than two years

later for almost 1.5 million bucks...had we bought it? 75 grand. yeah, we're

REAL proud of that one.

Hey, I graduated from St. Mary's behind the Holly Sugar building. Got my first

kiss at the top floor of that building.....ah, those were the days. .hare

kryshna, that old guy in hip waders with a sign on his old station wagon

proclaimin the end was near...new type person on every corner and I loved every

minute of it.

Now the land around the Garden of the Gods is sold out and it was left by

someone to never be built around....and you can see lights all the way up the

mountain sides at nite now.

I did go up to Gribbles Park and found a particular man made mound of

earth...once we climbed that if you looked down it was a rosette formation, held

in places with large rocks...but no one knows if the indians did it or the

calvary as a watch post from all angles and the legends in that

area.....awesome.

Back then it was a great place to have kids, hippies had Manitou, I lived by the

Castle there and home made soaps, candles, hashish LOL....but up in those

mountains lived some real mountain men and by golly they lived old way all their

lives on what they hunted, the structures they built, herbs they dried for

medicine . Truly a magical place.

I hope we dont lose those stories so pass em on to your kids and grand kids I

know as Emilee who is 2 and quite the virgo, she'll learn some old ways , old

irish customs and cures and indian , her grandpa on two sides is mixed so she'll

dance and have her shawl and learn to find the wild flowers, early green onions

.. I just dont think you can give a child a better gift then the gift stories of

all peoples who came together , old ways and the connection to the earth.

I knew my dad and I knew he was right about that witchin. They'd done if

generations before him and its still practiced and from what I hear in the oil

field in some cases.

Gosh I miss those Rockies in spring and summer...so much bounty to be offered .
