Just want to chime in here.  The medication you're speaking of and others like

them, are not blood thinners.  There's nothing which can thin any ones blood.

They are anti-coagulants.  The drugs works to de clot the blood not thin it.  I

know this a mis conception of many people.

Julia,

I stand corrected. I'm just going by what my doctor calls it. I'll try

and say anti-coagulant from now on.

Hi Folks...

Julia is correct...they're really anti-coagulants, which is why folks

with bleeding problems have to watch out....

Trouble is, even the Docs call em " blood thinners " ....<G>...

In fact, that drug therapy for clot stroke folks with 3-4 hour window is

like an anti-coagulant on steroids, called a " clot-buster " ....

In addition the window for giving the therapy, the med folks haveta be

sure the stroke is not due to a bleed of some kind.....the other major

kind of stroke.....

Giving a clot-buster therapy to that kind of patient kinda a disaster....
