Guest guest
I have comfrey, wanting to make a cream to have on hand, the book I have, which has a recipe, is from Canada, they say that I can get emulsyfing ointment from the chemist? and glycerol too. I am to heat the Em Oint. on the stove to melt it, then the glycerol, and add the herb and heat over low heat. Any suggestions?
Guest guest
You can put comfrey in olive oil in a double boiler for 2 hours and let it infuse slowly. If it is dry, I use about 1 cup herb to 1 1/2 cups oil. Let it cool a little then strain through a fine sieve or filter. Add beeswax, about 1/5th of the olive oil amount. Stir to melt and pour into jars. You may need to put the strained oil back on to heat a little to melt the beeswax. You can squeeze a couple of vitamin E caps into it to help keep it fresh.
